Hello,
I recently just purchased my first Dan Wesson revolver. It came with the 8" and 2" barrel, tool, and feeler gauge. The question I have is as to which model it is, a 14 or 15. The rear sight blade was not attached when I purchased it and I thought I would just order a new one from numrich. But the rear sight retaining pin I got from them was just that, a roll pin. It looks like I need a small cap screw from the looks of how the sight is made, which leads me to believe it is a model 15. Hopefully someone will know where I can get the part I need for the sight.

ochs99,
Welcome to the forum!
It appears that you have the model 15-2. I believe you need the windage screw which is available from CZ. Just go to the right of this page and click "where do I order parts?" It will direct you to a parts list. The windage screw looks to be $3.95. You may also need the blade, I didnt see one in your pics unless it is on the table in the backround.

Welcome ochs99,
Good find on your Dan and a great start on what I'm sure will be a growing family of Dans. We all catch the sooner or later. Is this your first revolver? Tell us a little about yourself and thanks for the . with fixing the sight and looking forward to a range report.

Howdy and
You're right, you have a Model 15-2 (standard shroud) target revolver. The Model 14 is a service revolver, with fixed sights.
Numrich is a good place to check for your rear sight pieces, or DW/CZ, as Palo suggested. Let us know if you hit a snag finding the parts & we'll try to help out further.
Looks like you got yourself a nice one.

Thanks for all the info guys! I went to the CZ page and found the Dan Wesson page in the web store where you can order parts but did not see the windage screw that was mentioned. Am I in the right spot? Maybe someone can direct me to the right spot or let me know the part number.
I picked this revolver up at Gander Mountain where I work part time. It had been around for quite sometime and had not been sold because of the missing sight screw. It turned out to be one of their clearance guns and a deal I just couldn't pass up.
It should be a nice 357 for my wife to shoot, maybe I'll give it to her for Christmas...

ochs99- When you order that screw, you will be paying a shipping/hadling charge several times the cost of the screw. Do yourself a favor and buy a spring kit at the same time, and do a good interior clean up and install new springs.

I agree with Steve CT, with that 2.5" barrel you may want to consider buying an extra front sight in the highest profile available also. I have found that my 2.5" shoots high even with the rear sight tightend all the way down. I would like to have the .300 patridge and will evenually get one. I have my own, self made patridge made of brass that I am using currently.

I just got off the phone with the parts dept trying to purchase the windage screw for the 15-2, they are out of those and don't carry them anymore.
Does anyone know the length and thread size on that particular screw? I will have to see if I can locate one somewhere else.

Even better, buy a Millett rear
http://www.millettsights.com/controller.php/cat09/revolver
which replaces the entire rear assembly, with what I think is a better rear sight. If you really, really, really want a DW rear, rather the the much better Millett, PM me with a shipping address and I will send you a DW rear sight.
