Tonight I will take possession of my trainwreck DW revolver. I'm receiving it as part of a trade deal for some work. In all honesty, I'm not even sure what model it is. It is a 357 that comes with 3 barrels (2", 4", and 6" i believe). There is little blueing left and it will not shoot in single action as the hammer won't lock back. Also, the hammer doesn't come back far enough in double action and it causes light primer strikes. I shot it before and it would fire if I held the hammer back and let it fall while holding the trigger. As I said, it is a trainwreck, but I'm not in it for much money. I look forward to relying on y'alls wisdom to try to get this thing working right. Once I take possession, I will post pictures up.

I hope that is all that it is. I really didn't want the revolver, but I'm basically trading $150 and some time for it. The deal sealer was I just purchased a S&W 10-5 and 64-5, so I will start casting and reloading 38 special. This will be another pistol that I can shoot that in, plus the occasional 357 Magnum.

Just one of the Barrel Assemblies (BA's) is worth more than that .. you stole that Pistol Pack !

Maybe. There is basically no finish left on the pistol. None whatsoever. I had to oil it and take some surface rust off when I shot it. I'm getting it from a co-worker. He got it from a family member that gave it to him, probably because it doesn't function. He had never even shot it (has had it for years) until a few weeks ago. It isn't a complete pistol pack as it only has 3 barrels, no case, and I don't even know if he has the wrench.
Essentially, I have an AR-308 that I am building for myself. He decided he wanted it if I would cerakote it differently than I planned. The plan is to build it, cerakote it in the colors he wants (I do my own Cerakote), shoot it a few to say its mine, and then sell it to him. He came up with the idea to trade me the pistol to knock $300 off the price. That equates to about $150 out of pocket since the time to cerakote is free.
Speaking of Cerakote, I know some of you may have a heart attack, but this pistol may end up cerakoted black since it is basically in the white right now. It basically doesn't cost me anything other than time and would prevent any future rust.

Function on a DW is either "very easily fixed" which applies about 80% of the time, or the gun has been subjected to "Bubba the Gunsmith", who may have done more challenging damage. As long as no damage has been inflicted on the frame, you/we should be able to fix any function issues.
If CeraKote makes sense for you, do it. Your gun, your choice.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I suspect it may be a porkchop model. Do the shrouds look like a porkchop bone and locate on the crane? They only came in 3 lengths. Your buddy may have a black suitcase in the family. The short hammer fall is the hallmark of the models 11,12,14,and 15. Personally, I like it. If you find ammo it likes it can enhance accuracy. Stinger is right about the grip screw preventing the hammer from staying back in SA. Back the grip screw out a couple of turns. You can check it by taking the grip off and seeing if it works. If you need a mainspring or other stuff let us know.
Now, it is just my opinion, but if it is in fact in the White I would reblue it. If it is a fixed sight gun it will probably have a matt finish. Adjustable sights and it would be polished. Are all the shrouds in the white also? If so, someone at some time probably stripped it to reblue it. It would have much more value if you blued it. Or had it chromed or nickeled. If so know the factory never nickeled the hammer, trigger or sights. Oh, do you have a barrel tool. I am sure it is not the train wreck you think.

The 14-2 has a matte finish, you could polish it if you like, it's your gun. I just watched a youtube video of a spray coating that looks shiny black, think it was dura coat. I'd blue it myself but again your choice. The other guys have you covered on the mechanical issues so I'll just say welcome from. PA.
