Wow those are both stellar. Why do not see more of the black finish on other firearms? Too expensive?
I am torn about whether or not to shoot/hunt with mine. It is unfired and was a jewel in his collection, but I always said “they’re meant to be shot” and hurting its value is not really a concern as I will never sell it……

I guess technically our guns are not an AGS. (the stainless steel ones) They would have to be coated with the special black coating and be marked as such to be an AGS. I guess our guns are technically a First Issue 7445-4VH-C correct? The Norwich AGS's were all First Issue I believe but the Palmer AGS were just a 7445-4VH-C Correct me if i'm wrong. I would like to say mine is a AGS but I don't think I can. What say you all? I assume the Palmer AGS is also stainless steel under the coating. I would never buy a Palmer AGS as it's not marked as so even though it is. If your going to last down that kind of scratch I would want people to know what it is. Also there is as much as a $900 difference in price between a Palmer AGS and a Norwich first issue. The last Palmer AGS sold for $1641 that was a pretty good deal it was in very good condition. I have never seen a Norwich AGS come up for sale but it would go for well over 2K I believe though my First Issue I got it not too long ago on GB for $1980 a very good deal I think!

No Stan, not an AGS. Yes Stan, just a 7445.

Wow that's different. Above my pay grade maybe the experts will weigh in on that one! You can't argue about yours not being an AGS since it's stamped that way. I never new they made one like that. Since it has a special serial number I would think this was a special order gun. I did not notice the roll mark in your first picture it was hard to see and you had the serial number blocked out so we never noticed it was stamped that way. THat's a real special gun you have I would think quite rare! Nice find! I would sure like to see a pic of the serial number maybe we can tell something from it!

It didn’t occur to me that there might be something unique to it other than the SN until you mentioned that most stamped AGS are black, but it doesn’t surprise me if it is more “custom” than just the SN. I will send you a PM….
