Hello, My name is Joe and I am from Sweet Home Oregon. I am a big revolver fan and own a beautiful Stainless 357 Supermag that my wife bought me for Christmas a couple of years ago.
I have been shooting IHMSA handgun silhouette for almost 20 years.
I am also a huge fan of the 41 caliber. I swage bullets for the 41, a 240gr JHP and a 250gr JFP and very occasionally a 185gr JHP for the 41 AE.
Some day I hope to find a 414 Supermag to shoot 500 meter silhouettes with, using my home swaged bullets.
Thank you.

Welcome to the DWF! Glad to have you here. Lots of 41 Maggie fans, well- at least three of us. I've been casting for several years but have managed to fend off the swage bug. That would be a whole new set of toys I don't have room for (yet).

Make that four .41 mag fans! Hello from another snow bound PA member! Best of luck in your 414 search, they are a great gun to shoot. If and when you find one, have your wallet ready and be prepared to dig deep to get one, they have been bringing crazy prices recently.

741..... Me too! Welcome aboard.
Well, it did take a little (admittedly VERY little) convincing from a couple of us to get you to look at .41 Magnum
.44 Magnum was more than I liked, if I ever dip my toe into the over .357 Magnum market, it would only be a .41 Magnum
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

True, but when I stumble across the right 744 it will join the 3 Amigos (715, 741, 7445).....

Thank you all for the warm welcome.
I actually have 5 different 41 mags, A Blackhawk (200th year), a Redhawk 7.5", a Smith 8 3/8 Blued, a Freedom Arms 10"(2 IHMSA world Championships) and a Marlin 1894FG. I messed around when I started swaging and found that I make the OACL .100 longer than SAAMI and have it fit in all 5 chambers. Then I had a custom cannelure wheel made for standard SAAMI length and another cannelure for seating the bullets .100 longer.
The 240 JHP's create tremendous hydrostatic pressure, I once blew an 8" thick walled city sewer pipe full of water, clean in half and at about 2-3 feet deep into the tube. I got a bath on that one, but WOW!!
I also have a 14" contender barrel in 414.
I found a DW 414 but they are asking about $2200 for it, ouch.
I have shot a ton of matches at DRRC, Pretty sure that is in Beavercreek, OR. I love handgun silhouette.

If you buy that DW in 414 at $2,200, you can quadruple your money... maybe more, maybe less, but it's definitely worth well north of the asking price. If I were you, had the money, and it was still available, I'd go BUY IT NOW!

I looked all over the internet and can't find any proof or instances where there have been any 414's sold in the past year or two. The only one I could find was sold in 2010 for just under $1000.
Can you direct me to something that would prove a sale in the $8K range? My wife won't let me buy it unless I can prove to her that I could at least double my money. She is awesome and bought me a beautiful SS 357 Supermag for Christmas a few years ago, but $2200 is a fair chunk of change.
Thank you for any help.

It was on GB more than a year ago, drdavidbanner won the auction and, to be fair, was in a bidding war with another person,..IIRC. Maybe someone on here saved the information. Another DWF member recently put a Norwich 7414 up but it didn't make $2500...again, IIRC. So, it just depends on whether two or more folks want the same gun, when it comes to auctions. If I had $2200 to invest-that would be a good one to have.

I watched that 414 go to almost $10K a few years ago. The reason you can't find much about ones that have sold recently is because there are so few out there they don't come up very often. A forum member had one up on Gun Broker in Oct but it didn't make reserve. Time of year has a lot to do with what a guns final sale value is. I try not to sell guns in the fall but its a great time to buy usually. Also, spring, after people get their tax refunds, is a good time to sell as people have 'found money' to spend.
I'd buy any 414 I could find in the $2K range, its a value. If you pass on it, post the contact info here, many of us would jump at the chance to grab a 414 at that price, myself included. Tell your wife the truth, there are so few of these guns out there and fewer still that their owners are willing to part with, that you cannot find 'comps' at this time.
Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

Well guys, where would be the place to post the information on the 414 for sale?
Actually I think it was a dead end. I found it on an internet search at Cabela's. I emailed them twice with no response.
Here is the link. Good luck to anyone. Perhaps a phone call along with the reference number would work.

I believe that is a cached page, as it doesn't list the store location and status information. A new search of the gun library for Dan Wesson does not return that revolver. If it was a recent listing, rest assured- it didn't last long at that price.
