Howdy folks. New guy to the Dan Wesson world, but have been interested in them for a while. I think I have finally decided to pull the trigger on a 357 revolver after putting it off for quite a while (I know, I know horrible time to buy a new gun lol). Somewhat new to revolvers, as I am mainly a 1911, rifle, and shotgun type of guy.
I have been looking at the 15-2 in a 6"bbl most likely. Probably blued finish. Problem is that no LGS around here ever has them for some reason, so will most likely have to buy online. Which I am somewhat leery about since it will be a used firearm and won't get to personally inspect it before I buy.
So my question is this, besides the usual suspects like Gunbroker and Gunsamerica are there any other reliable sights I should check out? What are your thoughts on the 15-2? Does anyone have any other recommendations (trying to keep this one under 600-700 lol)? Any tips or suggestions on what to look for in an online purchase/auction for gun that is 30 years old?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated and thanks for your help in advance!

Welcome to the forum, yes it seems Dans can be scarce or hit and miss locally so many members here have bought online. Besides the sites you named you might look at Guns International or Armslist. I have only ever bought off Gunbroker, and have been happy with all my purchases. If you are interested in a pistol online I strongly suggest asking the seller questions first, if I don't get decent responses I don't bid. Especially remember that some online sellers can be pawn shops etc that really do not have knowledge of guns or the condition of what they are selling.
Dan Wesson 15-2 is an excellent choice, the most prevalent Dan model around, and .357 magnum is a great chambering. 6" is the most common barrel length. I think you should be able to bring a nice one home for $500 if you shop around. I used to say $400 for a 15-2, but things do seem to be jumping up this year.

Welcome to the Forum! a 15-2 or 715 is the very best way to get into DW revolvers, and I think you should be able to get there at $600-700. 6" is the most generally available.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=328071609 This one is in the price range but with a 4" barrel. Looks like some dated paperwork too. Last I saw, no bidders yet.
