Hello from the suburbs of beautiful Detroit, Michigan.

Just traded a used Glock 36 locally yesterday for a used Dan Wesson model 15 (Monson) with 6″ barrel, 8″ barrel, Tiger Grips, & Pachmayr Presentation Grips.  The 6″ shroud is in rough shape but everything else looks pretty good.

This site already saved my bacon this evening when I popped the sideplate off to clean the internals and I couldn't figure out how to get things back together.

Now the real trouble begins as I try to procure a 2 1/2″, 4″, and additional 6″ barrel.   I'm also thinking of getting everything refinished in Sniper Gray Cerakote once I have all the parts together.

Obligitory pictures of the new acquisition:

Overall I think I did ok seeing as I've been wanting a .357 revolver and the modularity of the platform peaked my interest.

Welcome aboard, looks like you picked up a fine example of a DW.Cool That 6" shroud does look like it's been bumped around some, but the rest sure looks nice.

It's amazing how different the gun can look with a barrel & grip swap, huh? Love these DW's, I tell ya.Laugh

You got the better end of the deal...

Find barrels on GunBroker if you want Monson mades - there are several there in the sizes you're looking for right now.  Dan Wesson in Norwich if you want to buy brand new and don't care if the lettering is different (see parts list in our parts & service forum).  Original Pistol Pac cases on eBay for $125 - $180ish.

DW's are renowned for that high polish / deep blue - but having said that, if you had a good reason to refinish one - I'm thinking that sniper grey would look AWESOME.  I was never big on those coatings, but after I saw the Alaska Guide Special with Black Ceramic coat it changed my opinion entirely.

Welcome to the forum Windago.

Welcome Windago! Very good looking 15 you got there. Glocks are a dime a dozen, and nowhere near as good looking.

Windago- Welcome to DWF! May I ask what suburb of "beautiful Detroit, Michigan"? I was born in Livonia, and raised in Farmington (before it was Farmington Hills). I have family in Bloomfield Hills, Berkley, Howell, and Petoskey, and I'm an MSU grad.

Steve

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
