Thanks for the welcome guys
Here is my DW22 and the new to me 44. The 44 is SN 1953
I don't know much about the DW22 or what a proper pack should look like. I
bought it from a dealer in the late 80s / early 90s. I think I have another front sight or two for it in a box that I'm sure I have squirrelled away around here. SN is 20330.
Looking at it next to the 44 makes me want to get some wood grips for it and remove the pachmayrs.

A full pack has 4 barrel lengths, 21/2", 4", 6" and 8". It will have a target grip and another wood grip. 2 red and 2 white insert front sights in a little Manila envelope plus the 4 red ones. A barrel tool and shim, either plastic or steel and a belt buckle and patch. Various upgrades were possible, like a zebra wood grip or Pachmyer rubber grip. Assorted literature too. All in a brown suitcase with cloth lining.

I only have the barrels in the picture so maybe it’s just a hodgepodge of stuff? Definitely no hard case - just that soft case and I’m not happy with the way the parts fit in it. Seems too loose and subject to damage.
I am scouting around for a wood grip for the 22. I like that look much better than the rubber grips.

This is why I love these forums - constantly learning stuff. So what is that small soft case that my 22 came with? Was that a mini kit or was it something that DW offered as a separate soft case?I bought it quite a long time ago but I thought the guy referred to it as a pac.

It was just a soft case they sold at the dealers or at Dan Wesson. The original case looks like the brown one pictured and they do come up on ebay for sale sometimes and sell for around 300-350. I bought the one 30.00 case I mentioned above on eBay just to take my 22 to the range and it was a more protective case than the soft one in your picture.

I have one of the soft cases too, but for the same reasons you stated, I’d never use it to house/transport a pistol and BAs (barrel assemblies). Like you said, damage is likely to happen. The big hard tan/brown cases have foam cutouts under the bright cloth help keep the pistol and barrels separated from each other under transport to prevent damage. I think the DW soft cases are intended for transportation of a single firearm with no other accessories.
