I just traded into a Dan Wesson today, .44 Magnum, 8", s/n 44B0013xx.  From the serial number registry it looks like it was made in 1983.

Great DW to start out with.  44-Magnum is a standard to measure most others by.  Thanks for sharing the photo.  dwf-welcome to the dwf

Let's run down the "New Guy Checklist":

Posted in New Members first-check

Posted a picture-check

Looked up S/N info-check

Didn't ask how much it's worth-check

Posted was very classy and cool picture, and not too big-check

If I could nominate a "New Member of the Month" you are it!

Shorter barrel assemblies, just keep watching here:

Eric is a DWF Member and a good friend

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Thanks Guys.  I already have a pretty good idea on value; my friend, who owns the gun shop, and I exchange the "you're killing me" comments regarding prices and trade values but in the end we're both OK with the deals.  My winning comments to him yesterday was "you're trying to value your guns at retail and offer me wholesale for mine...you're not a Pawn Star nor is this Hard Core Pawn!"

Welcome to DWF!

As I decipher your screen name, I sense a little connection.

USCG Retired?

Steve, I thought I'd replied but yes, I am a retired CWO4 F&S.  I retired in 2001 off the MOHAWK while we were in the yard at Curtis Bay.  Went back to Ohio and after 3 years of trying to find meaningful work I ran away from home and joined the Circus - the wildly weird dysfunctional world of CBP.  I am a CBPO (hired as an Inspector) Officer on the border between Michigan and Ontario, about an hour north of Detroit.  About 16 more months and you can call me anything but gainfully employed!

Our son is a GM2, currently aboard USCGC Bernard C. Webber, a Plankowner on the first in class of the Fast Response Cutters. He will PCS in June to Camp Lejeune at the Special Missions Training Center.

You are maybe in Port Huron? A nephew by marriage is a WO on board the Hollyhock.
