I should never have started lurking around here. Too many fan boys on here are contagious. I now have a lifetime disease that could destroy me; if my lady doesn't get me first.
I started out naive enough, just reading a few posts and trying to figure out the models and the features. Then I saw the great history about the Wesson family and the contribution they have made for a 150 years. DW II really showed some class trying to keep S&W in the family. It just made sense for me to follow him into new territory and endeavours.
Next I started looking at all the DW porn on here and I was feeling the symptoms. My temperature was up and I was beginning to get confused.
But when I started looking at gunbroker it was over for me. Damn, was that a mistake. I began to shake and my fingers fluttered over the keyboard. I hit the Bid button and got it. Somehow GB said "You won". Then a realization came over me and I knew I hadn't won anything. I had to pay cash for it. It was supposed to be a 357 Magnum by the description and title. Later, my FFL gunsmith called and said, Wow, nice purchase on that Supermag. I said Huh? What's that?
After the education, and then shooting a gong at 115 yards with a revolver, I was in full bloom virus state. Other DWs quickly followed, until my buds had the intervention. They were afraid the new addiction would leave nothing for them.
Thanks for all the great stories and advice I've already gotten on here. I'm on lots of forums, but this one feels like a second home.

The Dan Wesson malady is an incurable disease. I now own ten Dan's and I can't stop! I am thinking of committing myself to an addiction center but then I think of all the Dan Wesson's I could buy with the money I would need to give to the doctors. I am deeply in need of help. It may not be to late for you. Get help now! Don't infect you friends like I did. I am lost. Oh my! What can I do.........................................?

has no cure but the treatment is fun. Don't think of it as an affliction, think of it as investing in precious metal objects de arts, or better yet a 401DW, works for me

Gentlemen, please do not worry about your "addiction" to Dan Wessons.
You are suffering from (Dan Wesson Acquisition Syndrome).
Fear not, we stand ready to assist- Our Staff Members are willing to take possession of all your DW's (temporarily of course) until we feel that you can properly manage your obsession, at which point they will be returned to you.
on that, because no one has ever fully recovered .
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Yes Bob your self diagnosis is correct. You got it. You can't get rid of it. Don't worry, this is wonderful support group that will enable...errrr empower you to deal with .
I'm only a couple of states away and travel extensively for work. If, at any time, you feel overwhelmed I can be there very quickly to pick up your Dans (yes Dans, because there will be more, many more. Just wait until you get into 1911s) and provide a safe foster home for them until I deem you have achieved the proper Dan Zen State to be able to manage your condition.
No thanks needed, I'm a very giving guy.......

Greetings,
I obtained my 1st pistol pack in 1988, believe it or not it was $495.00!! I must admit its always been a tack driver and a cherished part of my collection.
Eventually it developed a problem when fired that the ctgs. would slip under the extractor. I think that the cylinder ball spring is way too weak. I tightened the allen screw in front of the hammer located in the frame, and dripped a little lacquer into the recess, but its a little too snug. I then purchased a 2nd complete working revolver as a parts gun, seeing that parts had become very scarce.
Now I'm waiting for my latest investment the DW715 to arrive.

I am in a bad/good way myself. I have various names, Ole, Dog, Mr.Man., etc. My wife gave them to me as she enabled me on Gunbroker, eBay etc. New to firearms after the last presidential election, I saw my first Pistol Pack about 4 months later. I have all the afflictions. GAS, in a bad way, CRA, and a case of DWAS that may be for the record book. I have close to 60. The bank pays no interest and the insiders control the stock markets. Real estate is a headache and collectibles beside guns have huge transaction costs. So I have convinced myself I am diversifying. Hey! Hoarding Dans is better then Hoarding cats. I also have a Parts Aquisition Affliction. I think Jody is mainly responsible but Toltec, bless his soul, is either an angel or the devil for making it sooo easy.

was so bad around here that my wife had to be inoculated with DWAR Dan Wesson Acquisition Realization and it works! Every time she hears, "Hun, there's this Dan Wesson for sale...." she doesn't even flinch anymore.
