I have been shooting for 65 of 72 years. I started hunting Jack Rabbits for a buck a head to pay for ammo for my 20 gauge shotgun when I was 11. The price fell of to two-bits [$0.25 cents] the next year when dad let me use his .22. I could still get a dollar for cotton tails for meat. It started me working on my own hook that lasted all my life.
I didn't get into pistols until I got married. Revolver's came when I started to farm and needed something accurate to carry on tractor. I bought a Dan Wesson so I could easily mount a Red Dot on a Barrel shroud to take advantage of it's accuracy with my failing eyes. While my left eye is still 20/20 it not nearly what was when I had to start wearing glasses in college. Nor what it was the first time it was tested and I could read all the lines on the chart from place they had us start.
I have never shot a pistol with a single action trigger as good as the late production Dan Wesson 715 from Monson I bought with a 4 and 6 inch barrel.
Tuning the trigger by loosening the screws that hold the grips on seems odd. But screws that require almost no torque to stay in place are new to me. I expet the third generation of Wesson's understood revolvers better than any of us ever will.
After a day at the range I'll can't see using any other revolver when accuracy is an issue.

Welcome to the DWF, OldRed! The grip screw doesn't "tune" the trigger per se. This thread explains the grip screw function.

Welcome from the Bluegrass. No doubt you bought into the finest family of revolvers ever produced... Glad to have you with us. Share some photos when you get around to..

Welcome to DWF!
I kind of look at the grip screw "tightness" as a function of keeping the grip on the gun, that several inches long square tang holds on pretty well with just moderate tightening of the screw.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
