I am new to the Forum and new to Dan Wesson 1911's. I have carried a Colt 1911 Government or Commander for over 32 years. I carried them off duty and on duty. I have owned one Wilson Combat. I now own two Dan Wesson 1911's. One Classic and one Valor and both are bobtails. They are without doubt the best 1911 I have owned. The Classic I bought used so I just lubed it and took it to the range. The Valor I bought new so I used DW recommendation. I used their oil and shot 50 rounds. Stopped and cleaned the pistol and oiled again with their oil and shot another 50 rounds. I did this until I had shot 300 FMJ. I then put 50 rounds of Federal HST +P. I had zero problems.
Looking forward to learning as much as I can on the Forum.

Carl, welcome to DWF. I own one great DW 1911, and I still kick myself for passing on a CBOB available a few years ago, used at my LGS. After seeing it there for a couple weeks at a decent price, and walking away ("I can't afford another gun right now"), I went in ready to buy and it was gone. STUPID! STUPID! STUPID!
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
