Hello, I just joined today because I've been looking for a while for some info and worth of a gun I got from my grandpa. Im not really a collector and the personal value the rifles i got from him far exceeds the handgun. It's a 22 win mag with a 5.5" barrel. Monson, MA. After researching a little, I guess it's technically a 722 Magnum since it's stainless. Any info would be great! I've had fun researching all these threads. Thanks!

Thanks for visiting New Members, that is a 722M-6... The "..." will be filled in by the shroud type.
A standard 722M-6 will have a straight (no vent rib top, no heavy under lug)
Then comes a V (vent rib), VH (vent rib with heavy under lug), finally the H(heavy under lug with no vent rib) which is pretty much the rarest of the standard barrel shroud style.
722M is a pretty special and fairly uncommon model.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

That is a 722M V6, looks like there is some extractor rash in the sideplate. Dan Fan is pretty close on "value", I think. Any accessories, box, barrel tool...?

Howdy 🙂 I hope you will find hanging out here as informative as I have. Although if you stick around you might regret it -unless you have a really big safe. DWAS is an actual condition that can only be temporarily cured by running out of money
Very sweet looking DW! Since it looks like you don't have the barrel tool, may I make a shameless plug for the one that EWK arms sells. His stuff is awesome 🙂

Welcome to the Forum. Very nice Dan! Your Grandpa knew a good thing when he saw it.
About the scratches on the side plate: They can be sanded/polished out. That is the nice thing about stainless guns.
There is a way to prevent the scratches. When you open the cylinder place the gun in your left hand with your middle 2 fingers pressing on the right side of the cylinder and your thumb pulling down on the cylinder latch. When the cylinder release and swings out keep your fingers pressing on the cylinder so it does not swing back toward the frame as you eject the spent brass. Failure to do this is how the scratches occur in the first place. You'll get the hang of it. Just don't be in a rush.
You definitely need a barrel nut tool and a gap gauge to be sure the gap is adjusted properly. EWK has the best deal going. Now get out there and shoot that Dan.
