HEY ALL… joined a few days ago and should have checked in here first.
I've shot .44 mag, Ruger Super Blackhawk, since 1966 and have loved it.. just recently wanted to get a DA revolver and since I am set up for .44 figured I should have a Model 29.. but couldn't decide on which barrel length .. started noticing Dan Wesson's and a customer mentioned he had a .357 that he could change barrels on.. he said he loved it.. right up until the time it was stolen.. got me thinking and started doing research.. just bought my first Blued Monson Model.. very nice gun.. love the feel. have already bought 2 additional barrels for it..Now I'm thinking I should have a .22 magnum… lol.. this IS an addiction . Looking forward to talking to and getting educated by y'all.

Wayne- Welcome to DWF. I recently bought a Monson Model 44, which I passed along to my son, who really wanted it. I kept it long enough to put 50 rounds through it (my first experience with .44 Magnum). It was interesting, but more pistol than I want to shoot. He likes shooting pistol out to 100 yards, this one is an 8" with a 2x scope, so he's pretty happy with it.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I was wondering if the 10" barrel that is offered is worth it... meaning does it give the round any more accuracy..?
Also the 10" barrel is not ported like the 4,6,or 8 is and I wonder if the porting really adds anything .. I understand the theory behind it. ( I ..think ??LOL), or if it's just a gimmick ?
My Ruger has a 7 1/2" barrel and does just fine.. then again.. I'm not shooting 100 yard targets.
