I've never owned a DW before but I do now.
Just picked up a 6" 32 Mag in SS trappings, all the pictures I have been able to find of other examples indicate 32 H&R Mag, this only has 32 Mag stamped on the shroud...don't know what this might indicate if anything...maybe nothing other than a production run set up by a different operator?
Not looking for value (Its not for sale), but any information anyone on the forum can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Admittedly I do not know much about DW revolvers, apparently its very easy to substitute any shroud on any frame given correct frame size, threading and barrel length, full functionality being dependent on pairing with the appropriate cylinder, the question is would this have been factory or is it more likely a franken-gun assembled from parts on hand?
I do not yet have any factory loaded ammo in 32 mag, but I do plan to run some S&W long through it this weekend weather permitting. Hoping to find an exceptionally accurate gun as the cartridge has that reputation. 32 mag brass and boolits being readily available I'll roll my own when the components and dies arrive.
Have read that the Monson revolvers were considered a touch better in quality control, but if this is a palmer shroud I do not have any issue with the fit and finish, at least so far. Is there any method to identify the barrel manufacturer, I do not recall seeing any markings when disassembled for cleaning.
Thanks guys

My favorite cartridge. I have a couple of 732s and more than a couple blue ones. I suspect it is all original. I have several guns from early 1990s that have Monson frames and Palmer shrouds that are ANIB. When Palmer small frame production started existing Monson frames were married with Palmer shrouds. No Frankengun at all. The serial number starts with 32MS. In 1986 the caliber was added to the serial number. Palmer kept that format. You should find a nice smooth zebra grip for your gun to wear on Sundays. 😉

Thanks for all the replies and support from the forum members!
The pachmayers are ok but I have been nosing around to find something more in the line of a nice wood with target / combat style grip and finger grooves. I assume that anything that fits a small frame should fit.

Monson has a two line caliber marking on the shroud, Palmer has a one line.
Thanks to you and Stinger for the info!
One other thing that has caught my attention is the front sight ramp is installed in an nontraditional orientation, some DW's, especially those with light catching inserts are in the common configuration (it would be counterproductive if the shooter couldn't see the insert) so that makes sense but those with solid front sights have the high point of the ramp to the rear, assuming there is some benefit to this installation I still don't get it, although rotating the sight 180 is no issue and seems to have been cut to facilitate such a procedure.
Is there some benefit in target shooting sight picture that I am unaware of?

Welcome from Texas!
There are several options to dress up your small frame. Original factory grips....(We all still drool over every Zebrawood that comes up for sale.)
Hogue makes a variety of outstanding wood grip of many wood types.
And the flavor of the month is a good honest guy in Thailand that makes beautiful Indian Rosewood grips with the DW Circle logo laser-etched in them, and sells them on ebay....100% rating. At least 6 of us have bought 2-3 pairs each. There is a thread on here in the Auction Topics.
