Hey all, I just picked my second DW and figured it was time to join the "elite" gun owners group. I got a model 44 6" in a trade a few months ago (I think I over-paid) unless the gun is worth more that $1000. A few days ago I traded a $800 AK 47 (yep, got 'em in AZ) for a Monson model 40 VH6. (I had no idea what a VH6 was until today).
The 44 is about 90-95% and the 40, which was a safe queen is about 95%+. The 40 has DW wood grips, and the 40 has rubber, which I wanna change to wood.
It sure is harder to get info on these than say, a glock. Current value info is impossible. I can't wait to take them out and shoot. In AZ ya just can't be within 1/4 mile of houses, not like CA is.
I'll be checking out the discussions, and will likely be asking dumb questions.

Welcome. The 44 mag is an early one from 1981. The first 10,000 had the short hammer spur. Later ones had a hammer like the model 40. Value of the 44 iis 600 to 700. The model 40 has smooth zebra grips. They are going for in excess of 200 on eBay. You got a good deal on the 40. Look on GunBroker.com for current values. Only about 10% of the listings are realistically priced. Completed sales only count.
