I do not own any Dan Wesson firearms, and because I am in Canada that will probably not change soon!  The firearms laws have changed drastically in Canada recently making most handguns nontransferable within Canada.  One available option is to export them to the USA which is a long process but ultimately doable for guns which are able to pass the US import rules.

I am working with an executor of a friends estate and we have what I think is a Model 15-VH6, which should be importable.  I have just one bad picture for the moment, which I have attached.

I have joined this group in order to learn more about these firearms in order for me to save this one from an unfortunate ending.

Please don't trash Canada in response to my post, we firearms owners are sad enough as it is!

Hunted Saskatchewan for Geese, Chicken, and Duck last fall- loved it!  Welcome to the DWF. What are your questions?

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Thanks!  We just returned from 6 months travelling around your country, and the same can be said!

That sounds like fun.  I am a deer hunter, in an area with few deer, go figure.  Great fun in a beautiful place but thankfully we are not hunting in order to survive!

I am still working out my questions but my initial task is to figure out what we have and what it is worth and whether exporting it to the USA will be viable.  So far the information I have found here has been helpful.  The next time I can get to the gun I will have more information in order to know what I am looking at.

The buy cycle will be long so it has not been clear to me what the best way to find a buyer is when it could take in excess of 3 months to complete the transaction end to end.

Correct. It is a Model 15-2 with a 6" Barrel Assembly (BA) sporting the Vented Rib / Heavy Underlug (VH) style shroud.

The nomenclature you used is correct.

dwf-welcome to the dwf from Florida.

Perfect, thanks!  Thanks to this forum for the clear information provided.

We also have a second grip.  Do you think there could be additional accessories that I should be looking for that would have come with this pistol?

Is your other grip wood? With or without medallion?

It should have at least a barrel nut tool and barrel gap tool, if not original box with sticker on side matching your serial number.

The one on the left is the wooden one with the medallion and is clearly for this pistol but the one on the right may be for a different pistol.  Once I have physical access to them I will be able to sort this all out!

Thanks for the help, I hope I am able to locate the accessories!

Both Dan Wesson.   The one on the Left is a Zebrawood Exotic.   Very sought after.   If it has a very healthy clearcoat, go ahead and shoot with it and enjoy it.   I suggest removing it before cleaning the gun.

The grip on the right is a combat grip, I believe. Definitely for a DW pistol.  If it has a square hole, it’s for a small frame DW.  Round hole grips fit the large frame DW.
