Hello Everyone!
I have been lurking around here for a couple of weeks trying to discover information on a DW 15-2 PP that I inherited from my Father after he passed away. Our family bought it for him for Christmas back in '79 or '80 and he only used it a few times. It's a beautiful gun, but unfortunately I do not use it.
Just wanted to post a quick "Hello!" to you all and thank you for ALL THE GREAT INFORMATION you have provided here!
And since threads are worthless without pics:

Wow! .
My condolences on your loss. Obviously you are a close family to give such a gift and keep it in the family. I'm sure it meant a lot to him and now to you.
I'm usually one to say shoot it, shoot it, shoot it but with that one you need to contract and get yourself something to shoot regularly. I'm guessing Jody is going to have interest in the serial number and whether it was 79 or 80 on that one.

Thank you for the nice welcome. Dad passed almost 11 years ago now; this was not the only gun he left me; I have several others as well that he left me that I will never part with. I used to hunt/shoot with my Father, and after he passed, it wasn't the same.
Jody – the serial number is 264233.
Actually (I truly am sorry to say this) but one of the reasons I have been perusing the forum is to get some idea of its worth. I have seen several of the 15-2 PP's for sale on the auction sites and some of them have obvious signs of heavy use and are still commanding high prices (some, I feel, are ridiculously high, but I may be wrong). My gun is practically in mint condition. But, I digress….
I've been out of work now for almost 18 months and have been forced to part with some of my "toys". Unfortunately, this is another one that needs to find a new home, not only for the fact that I could use the money, but would like to find someone who could appreciate it for what it is. Most of the local shops only want to give me $150-$200 for it, and I know it's worth and value is more than that.
So, I thought I would post an introduction first – and not be a crass idiot to a forum and post it in the sale section without even saying "hello" – and thank you all for providing a wealth of information.

Welcome to DWF, you have a beautiful 15-2 Pistol Pack, you are correct that it was a 1979 gun (which I have added to our Serial Number Registry). You are very welcome to post it for sale here, and save on auction fees. I will say that any shop offering $150-200 for that is either grossly uninformed, or attempting to take advantage of you. Without assigning a "value" to it, any shop here in CT could sell that very easily for $800, and DW's have traditionally sold fairly low here.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Thank you for the advice, folks. I just feel that it's "bad form" to jump in and join a forum and immediately post in a "for sale" section without getting to know the poster offering the sale, or at least getting to know the folks running the show.
She will, however, be posted there tomorrow with some additional pictures. I am not looking to make a fortune, but merely want her to go to a "good home", if you will. I will even make a contribution to the forum to keep the site running, as I am sure that I will be posting in the future and wish to keep on the good side of the admins and mods...

Oh man, I hate to hear you have to sell it. If I had the $$, we'd be talking. $200 is ridiculous, $800 seems like a good price for a buyer. The two pacs that I know of locally both went so quickly I didn't get a chance to see them. One went for $900, the other for $1,000. Good luck with it.

Thank you. I'm thinking that $600 - $700 is a fair asking price with the buyer paying the shipping and fees, no?

Sorry to hear you need to sell but Kudos on your forum etiquette! Good luck and feel free to hang around. Good luck and hopefully things will pick up for you soon.
And for any LGS that only offered $200.00 well shame on them.

I think Shoot gave you your answer. He'll give it a good home. If not him, then DWA will.
Do hang around. There are a lot of good people here. Good luck on the job hunt.

I want to thank you all for your help and interest, but I have made a deal to sell to shootist357 that was beneficial to both of us.
Next up: back to work and my CCW.
Once funds allow, it will be time to go to the range.
Thanks again to all of you - if you will allow, I will hang around a bit longer and soak in some more information, and you may see the odd post asking about this or that.
