I've recently bought a 20 year old Dan Wesson model 15 (-2 ?) with 6 inch and 4 inch barrels.
Serial nr: B 006141 - (meaning the revolver is properly from the late 1990's)
Original buyer : Unknown
Number of previous owners: Unknown
Imported from Germany 6 months ago.
No original case but with original tools.
Price: 4.500,- kr (danish crown's) (approximately 600 Euros or 680 US dollars) Including 25% sales-tax.
Unfortunately the revolver has serious issues:
- At 15 meters the hits are 10-15 cm to the right of center and this is with the rear sight turned all the way to the left!
- The attached barrel (6 inch) cannot be removed; properly glued with Lockt#@&* (pardon my french)
Two days ago I left the revolver in the hands of a competent "weapons-smith" (directly translated from danish) who has been fixing firearms for 36 years. Hopefully he can fix this revolver as well. 🙂

Jens, Welcome to DWF. I think you are pretty much on the mark for manufacture year, and that is a beautiful looking 15-2, the grip is especially nice. The price would be a really good deal in the US (that Sales Tax is SCARY!).
Please feel free to have your gunsmith visit DWF for help, and he should especially look at: Average Joe Tune Up
Any of our Staff Members (Admin/Moderator/Range Officer) will be very willing to help out in any way, either in open post or via PM.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I re-read your original post, and based on your comment about the barrel being "glued in place", is it possible that your barrel (and front sight) are not properly aligned? I'm not real metric, but that is about 6"?
There should be a roll pin in the frame that aligns the barrel to center line, maybe that roll pin went missing and someone glued down the barrel nut to stop the barrel shroud from rotating?
If so, this is a very easy fix.

Welcome. It looks that is in pristine condition and the price was pretty low. Dan wessons are notorious for their accuracy so something wrong there. Have you verified the off center shooting by resting on a bench or by letting someone else fire it?
Indeed, Albert83, I tried with a bench-rest and having a another shooter (quite a lot better revolver shooter than I) try to shoot it. His comment was: "It's defective ... return it.". But I want to give the revolver a chance ... perhaps it is easily fixed ... time will tell.

The barrel (incl the front sight) did indeed look to be angled ever so slightly .. so yes; a missing roll-pin is a distinct possibility.
Is the roll-pin not firmly lodged in the frame? Or is the roll-pin easily removed ... and therefor easily lost?
And yes: 10-15 cm = 4-6 inch at 15 meters = 49 feet (roughly)

The roll pin is not a permanently installed part of the frame. It is a very firm "push fit" into the frame, it can be removed and reinstalled with simple hand tools.
I'm curious about the barrel nut being glued in place. Are there local laws or regulations that would require your revolver to be limited to only 6"? Seems unlikely since you have a 4" Barrel Assembly as well.
Is the angle (rotation ?) of the barrel (and front sight) in the direction that would take you to your actual point of impact?
If you very firmly grip the shroud and attempt to twist it in either direction with MODERATE force, and it wiggles or rotates even slightly, the roll pin is probably missing or broken.

I think the first thing to do is remove the nut. If your Smith gets it off it will be apparent if the roll pin is missing or broken. You may need a nut also. The barrel can probably be cleaned up. Let's hope the barrel is not loctited to the frame. Snake - eye( DWF member) has roll pins but they are a standard size I think.

I've found this method to work best for me in removing stuck barrel nuts. Heat it up a bit and clamp a barrel nut wrench to it. You probably don't have a barrel wrench so you may have to have one made. If you (or the gunsmith) start stripping the slots in the nut you may never get it off.

Good news !
My gunsmith was able to remove the barrel nut; unfortunately the barrel-nut was quite damaged to a degree that it is unusable. The roll-pin was in place and undamaged ...
Furthermore it turns out that the barrel itself has two issues:
1: Its bent. (When put in a lathe the free end of the barrel warbled noticeably)
2: The bore inside the barrel is angled compared to the outside of the barrel.
At the "forceing-cone end" its okay but at the mussel-end the "barrel-hole" is off to one side (by 1/10 mm)
When looking at the barrel I could not see the offset barrel-hole ... but the gunsmith was able to measure it.
I installed the shorter 4" barrel and took the revolver to the range this evening and fortunately this barrel work fine.
Conclusion:
I've talked to the person who sold me the revolver (he is an authorized weapons-merchant) and he has agreed to pay for a new 6" barrel for the revolver. Nice! 🙂
I think I also will purchase an 8" barrel ... my gunsmith has 5-6 DW revolver barrels in storage ... 🙂
Thanks for all the input and advice.
