Hello All,
I've just joined the forum today. I'm a former police officer and LE Firearms Instructor from Virginia, where I also operated a private training school for 20 years. I'm now retired and living in South Florida. Back in the late 70's and early 80's I competed in police PPC competitions using a Dan Wesson revolver and its interchangeable barrel set. The 2, 4, and 6 inch barrels allowed me to use the same gun in three different events, and the 8 inch barrel that came in my Pistol Pac saw occasional use in NRA Hunter's Pistol Silhouette competition. I wish I still had that kit, but as I advanced in PPC, I sold it to finance a custom-built gun.
My reason for joining today is that as of yesterday, I took delivery of a brand new Dan Wesson Vigil Commander in .45 ACP. It seems like a very well made handgun and I think we are going to get along just fine. After years of being required to carry a plastic pistol for work, I now get to carry what I want, and I'm hoping the Vigil will be a lifelong companion. Polymer has its place, but to me there is nothing quite like metal and wood. Cheers!
Welcome to Florida and the forum. I was born in Miami but moved to the People's Republic of New Jersey when I was 6. Parents divorced. Visited Dad every summer and when I was 21 moved to Florida for good. In Ocala now. Since 1980. Lots of Dan fans in the Sunshine State. Great state for gun ownership.
