Hello everyone. I've been lurking here for a while reading how everyone likes their DW's. I have been a real fan of S&W's. Well you know when you like guns, I guess you eventually end with a DW. I did find nice looking 44 mag. on line. When it arrived, checked it out and I loaded up six rounds and took it out back to see how it was. Well first impressions where good except for about 9 pounds of trigger pull. I had read about how Mike Heffron was making these guns preform so much better. I contacted him about a trigger job. So in April I sent the gun out to him. Well he still has it so I can't say if his work lives up to the hype. I've sent him 4 emails over the last few months trying to get some idea as to any progress. Have not received any replies from him nor do they seem to answer the phone. Anyone have problems like this?

Sorry you didn't run across this thread, but I think we were trying not to open old wounds: https://www.danwessonforum.com/forum/reloading/mike-heffron-revolver-smith-rules
I know he is advertising in other circles like maybe 1911 or AR. Can't remember, but I saw some chatter on another site about how good he was and I just rolled my eyes in silence.
Happyness is a Hot DW and a pile of used brass!!! Rich

Welcome to the forum. As some have alluded, Heffron has been discussed here. IIRC, he is just slow. I don't have any personal experience with him; just remembering what I read.
Worse news is my understanding is gunsmiths are now entering their busy period with customers bring their guns as the weather cools. (I just got mine back from a local smith and he had it 6 weeks. He does good work and I don't rush him. )
I'd be careful doing a trigger job on a DW. The prior owner of mine tried to do it and butchered it badly. He went through the hardened surface, IMO, and it was noticeably wearing. The gunsmith I use won't do a trigger job on a DW for that reason.
I'd try thoroughly cleaning it first. (I'm assuming that 9 lbs is in DA mode.) If you get in there, check to see if the any of the springs have been clipped. I'm guessing some basic maintenance is what is really needed.
HTH.
