Hello all. II'mn new to Dan Wesson and the forum. I recently picked up a stainless Specialist at a great price I couldn't pass up. I've put 150 rounds down range after following the manual's break in procedure. The only issue I had was how I gripped the fun I would press the magazine release and do the magazine out. I think I did that twice. I need to adjust my grip and ain a bit as I seen to shoot low and left. The Specialist is by far the finest handgun I've fired.IMG_20150120_205349535.jpgImage Enlarger

I have a pretty high grip on 1911's, right thumb riding the safety and left thumb just below the slide release. Essentially, the web of my right hand is snugged up under the beavertail with both thumbs pointing straight down range. This keeps both hands pretty much opposed and equal pressure from left to right. I do need to shift right hand grip slightly and rotate a little right to drop a magazine while the left hand brings up the new magazine.

Keeping both hands as directly opposed as possible should help with the low left hits. Visualize both palms pushing equally across from each other

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Welcome to the dwffrom PA!  You will love that Specialist.  I never thought I'd like a railed 1911, until I got my Specialist, it shoots every bit as nice as my Valor and the rail is neat for a tac light or laser.  occasion

When Boss Dog refers to "gonna need company", it seems most after they buy their first Dan feel the urge to buy more. This is DWAS or Dan Wesson Aquisition Syndrome. I'm up to 5 myself and haven't found a cure yet. Nice gun by the way. All mine are wheel guns but a Guardian seems to be in my immediate future.

Now you need to add a 15-2 357 and start a collection!

Well said William. After all mazster43 really does need to contract both forms of DWAS.

I have plans for another. Well not plans exactly more like a desire. I like the 15-2 a lot and I'm keeping my eyes open. I have a Para Ordnance P12 limited to keep my Specialist company for now.

Sound advice I will try on my next range visit. I had a friend watch me shoot and he thinks I'm not looking straight down range but slightly to the right. So I will need to pay attention to that as well. Thank you for the advice.

I saw an ECO on gunbrokergunbroker that was calling but I think mymy gun budget is depleted for the time being. I really do like the 15-2 in 357...
