Greeting all from North Carolina. As you can see from the pictures above I have a modest collection of Dan Wesson items. However, this revolver was purchased new by me in 1978 and was the first firearm I owned. At the time I only bought the 15-2 revolver with the standard 8" barrel as that was all I could afford. I later added the 4" and 10" barrels and finally the 6" barrel. I just recently found the pistol pac case last month with the patch buckle and three sets of grips. I picked up the other grips along the way. Eric at EWK was kind enough to vent the 8" shroud for me and did a excellent job. I also purchased on of his comp barrel nuts which is of excellent quality as well.
As for me I am a forensic firearms examiner. I have probably fired more firearms with fewer rounds than most people. I have a great job as I get to shoot everyday and no one gets upset when I am walking through the building with a firearm in my hand. I have learned a lot about Dan Wesson firearms from reading the forum and figured it was times to join.

from PA. That is a sweet looking pack you put together. Your job sounds interesting, could you elaborate on exactly what a forensic firearms expert does, besides firing guns. Do you do ballistic comparisons like we see on TV like in CSI? Glad to have you aboard, hope you find this site as interesting as I have.

Yes that is exactly what I do. Along with the ballistic comparisions we do gun function tests, suppressor analysis, muzzle-to-target distance determination, serial number restoration, toolmark examination and just about everything else you see on TV. The only difference is that it take a LOT longer than 60 minutes to get things done and things don't always match!

Are the women in your lab as hot as the ones on CSI, CSI Miami, NY?
Seriously, sounds like a very cool job. What kind of background does one need for a job like that? Its been years since I worked in a lab (micro bio stuff).

glad to an expert on the other side of the fire arms! I am sure we can help with your Dan, though you have already found our in house guy now take a look at LB for some handy beautiful wood for your 15-2. A couple EH's would go well in your Pac too!
Glad you are here sit back and enjoy!

Welcome to the Forum
You might all be interested to see this 15-2:
About 2 years ago I was contacted (through the Serial Number Registry link) by a police Detective who found DWF in a Google search. This gun was modified to accept a home made suppressor and allegedly used in an attempted homicide. After verifying that this was a valid request from a Georgia Police Department, I was able to provide Model identification information, approximate date of manufacture, and an opinion that this gun had been modified from it's originally manufactured configuration. The intent was to use this information in a criminal prosecution.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Thank you all for the warm welcome to the forum. I am sure I will learn a lot from all of you. The modified Dan is very interesting. I have seen many firearms modified for suppressors but never a Dan. It may just be the pictures but the threading on the muzzle end looks tapered. Not the best treading for a suppressor. Again thaks to everyone for the warm welcome.

It looks to me like someone used a pipe nipple in place of the shroud. That alone should be criminal.
