Hello,
I’m new user from Poland. Two weeks ago in second hand shop I discovered big, heavy, shiny revolver and immediately decided to buy. And now I’m owner of Dan Wesson .445 SuperMag (as I learn on this site it is 7445 VH10 - S/N 445 S001678). I don’t have any idea about production year - maybe someone could help me.

Never mind, I really felt in love with this great example of old good times when engineers used steel to make really reliable stuff 😉

Regards,
Artur

Serial Number data is pretty spotty on the 7445, probably 1992

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Arthur, you are so right. They don't make overenginered indestructible things like that anymore. Can you get 445 ammo in Poland? It also shoots 44 mag though. Buffalo Bore makes a 44 mag with about 1500 ft/lbs that would probably feel like shooting 38 Special in that baby. There can't be too many of them in Poland.

Welcome to the forum.  That's a beauty you picked up there!  By any chance was there any .445 brass that came along with it?  Securing .445 brass or ammo may be challenging but the good thing is you can shoot .44 mag. out of it.  Just keep the chambers clean so if you do come across .445 ammo you won't have extraction problems.  Congrats. on your new hand cannon!!

Welcome to the forum!  You certainly got off to a good start with your Dan Wesson collection, that is a real thing of beauty.  As others have said, the gun will also shoot 44  magnum ammo.
Just wondering what the gun laws are like in your country?  How difficult is it to purchase, can you only own a set number?
You will certainly enjoy shooting that beauty.

First, thanks for warm welcome, it is honor for me to be here. Regarding questions:

.445 ammo or brass is not accessible in Poland. Fortunately I know shop in Germany where Starline brass is on stock. Shipping from Germany to Poland is simple overnight like between two states in US.

Gun laws in Poland. Really thought subject. During communism time all guns were strictly prohibited for individuals except hunting with restrictions. This is typical for all non-democratic places where government knows better what is good for citizens 😉 Long time in such environment makes people really scared about possibility that everyone could buy gun. It is crazy thinking that good father could change into danger animal just because has gun at home …

Thinks are changing specially after 2012 when gun laws was changed. Today is possible to ask police for permit to buy gun if you are hunter, sport shooter or collector. Process is still not easy, long and expensive but possible to pass.

We hope that new changes will come. So personally I’m F-class shooter and fan of guns and I have permit to own up to 15 guns of o different types. It is possible to extend number but it is necessary to provide reasons to police. Of course machine guns are prohibited but other are rather easily accessible.

Thanks for the info. It's always interesting to learn about other countries' gun rules.

What you experience in Poland is not so different from what America seems to be moving toward.

Your 7445 is a great gun, you should be proud to own it

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your 7445. I have one and love it. Once you are able to get or load full 445 super mag loads you will be amazed at the power of you revolver.

To the paranoid people who check behind shower curtains for murderers:

if you find one...what's your plan?
