Hi Folks, glad to find this forum on Dan Wesson.  I just picked up a new Pointman 9 and will be using primarily in steel plate shoots etc.   looking to upgrade to at least a 10 round mag and possibly a magwell if it will help.  Any suggestions as to what you have liked or disliked will be appreciated.

thanks

Jay

Welcome Neighbor!

I do have a magwell recommendation, the Ed Brown Maxi Well  in Snakeskin checkering. I have it on a .45 Lightweight Commander and it's excellent. Simple drop in installation, and the magwell can be removed without disassembling the gun. The Snakeskin checkering is by far the best I've ever seen.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Welcome to the DWF from PA.  I find Checkmate mags work well in most of my Dan 1911's.  I think Checkmate made a lot of the factory mags for DW.  Chip McCormick mags also seem to function well for me.  You should try a few brands to see which one(s) your particular gun likes best.  It seems that 1911's are a little bit like people, they can have subtle personality differences.

Anything worth doing is worth doing well.
