Thanks for the welcome guys! I’m trying to learn all I can about DW revolvers. The one I got is a 744VH8 ( I think I have that right). It’s ported. The ports on the barrel kind of threw me a bit! They looked a bit cruder than I would have expected from a factory gun. I’ve since done some research and it seems that some of those ports were done like that. Barrel is ported as well.
Anyway, I’ll post some pics of the revolver (It’s a Monson)
Thanks!

That was DW's new fangled approach to a subtle looking compensator. It worked great ...until it didn't. The later compensator design worked flawlessly. On the original design, lead bullets clogged the barrel ports fairly quickly & kinda rendered it useless. Jacketed bullets take more time, but overall, the idea was put out to pasture after a couple years. When the BA is clean, it works like intended, but yeah, definitely give the barrel & shroud a good scrubbing after each range trip so they don't get stuck to each other.

Charger fan, yeah I think I’m leaning towards getting a non-ported barrel. In the meantime I will order a wrench so I can take it apart and clean it.
