Hello all. I'm from Ohio. I just inherited a Dan Wesson 357 Magnum 15-2 (I think)?? Well anyways I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm currently trying to find out as much as I can about these guns. Until now, I've never heard of Dan Wesson Arms. I'm not too big into guns. I own a few for self defense and tinkering around at the gun range. I have a Taurus 38 snub nose 856 UL, a Smith & Wesson 38 special model 10 and a very cheap .22 JA pistol. Right now, the DW has a 4 inch barrel on it....honestly it almost looks similar to my 38. It came with a 10 inch barrel that is in good shape and a 15 inch barrel that has quite a bit of rust and pitting. I'm not sure if it can be saved and/or if it's worth anything. I posted some pics of it in the general discussion forum. Thanks for letting me join this great forum with all it's wealth of knowledge!!

Welcome from a fellow Buckeye! Too bad about the 15" barrel. Sad that such a nice barrel was neglected. Someone probably put it away and forgot about it..Moisture is an enemy.
Yea my father n law was never very good at keeping his things nice...lol. He once bought a brand new Harley in 2002 and never washed it the whole time he owned it. He called it his "rat rod" I ended up getting some pics of the actual gun and the other 10 inch barrel. Can you guys verify that it is indeed a model 15-2? Thanks.

It looks like your father in law took good care of the gun except for the 15 inch. Is that a little rust on the hammer spur? If you rub the gun down with Flitz using your fingers and then wiping off it will remove light rust. When done, polish with automotive carnuba wax. Use a toothbrush and the Flitz on the hammer spur. Read " the Average Joe Tuneup " in gunsmithing. I suspect your father in law did not have central air conditioning or stored the 15 " in the garage or workshop. In Florida, rust indoors is almost non existent because of constant air conditioning or heat. Without it, even blued steel rusts in days. When you polish with Flitz you will see rust on the rag. Some of that is blueing which is a form of rust, and some is a light patina of rust that is not readily observable that developed over the 35 or 40 years of the guns life. It is important to nip it in the bud.

Evening from AZ my first hand gun was a Dan Wesson .357 with a 6" barrel I bought in 1979 and I still have it, I've been a fan ever since. About 15 years ago I bought a .357 pistol pack at a gun show and a little bit later at the same show I found another .357 pistol pack with the 10" and 12" barrel and had to have it also. flash forward last year I found a .44 with a 8" barrel at a pawn shop and bought it. Last month I found a .44 with the 8" barrel plus gold plated engraving 2nd amendment and bought it. I think these guns are awesome
