I would like to say hello to all the forum members.
I'm a NRA Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor ( Handgun/shotgun)
NRA Certified Pistol instructor, NRA personal protection inside the home instructor, NRA Outside the home instructor, State of IL. certified instructor, State of Wisconsin certified Instructor, IL State Police approved CCW instructor.
I work for a national armored transport company as the Midwest regional firearms instructor.
I had a Dan Wesson 744 years ago and have regretted selling it for YEARS!
I finally fixed that mistake.
I bought another 744 stainless with a 8" barrel and a 6" barrel. I was thrilled when I finally got my hands on it.
So thrilled I also bought a stainless IHMSA 445 SuperMag with a 10" barrel and matching stainless scope.
I figured since I had a good start on barrel assemblies I added a 4" and a 2" VH. Now I have the 44mag frame, a 445 SuperMag frame a 10",8",6", 4", 2" barrels for the frames to share.
I tore both pistols apart tonight to reverse the trigger travel screw stops so they can be adjusted without taking the gun apart. It was a good chance to get to know both guns.
I bought reloading dies for the 445 along with brass, bullets, and powder. I loaded up about 5 rounds to try and they did not disappoint. I hope to get some good reloading info here on the form.

Welcome but I'm trying to wrap my head around this...

The 44 can use the 445 shrouds but the ejector rod on the 445 is longer than the 44 so the 44 shrouds won't work on the 445.
OOOOOOPS!
Didn't see that one coming!
Could the 44 shrouds be milled in the ejector rod area enough to except the 445 frame?
This is not as bad a screw up as to when I took the guns apart.
When I tore the 44 mag apart, I removed the trigger assembly and took the trigger out so I could reverse the trigger stop screw. I had a small piece of metal fall out on to the work area. It looked broken on one half. I thought for sure something inside the gun had broken and this was a piece of the cracked metal. I then had the cylinder assembly slide out. I looked for along time to try and find what had broken. I finally came to this forum in search of pictures. It was then that I found it was NOT a broken piece of metal but was the key that holds the cylinder assembly in, DAAAAAAAA!
Live and learn.
I was having a hard time getting the trigger assembly back into the frame. positioning the hand and transfer bar was tough. I saw the suggested methods but struggled with those too. I finale took the hammer and dropped it into the frame (loose), Then slide the trigger assembly up and guided the transfer bar and hand. The hammer took up the space that the transfer bar kept falling into. I was dreading taking the 445 apart because of the trouble I was having with the 44 trigger group. After I found this "trick" out it was easy getting the group back in. I won't hesitates to take the trigger group out in the future.
