Just wanted to post in for the first time and say HI.
I found this forum about two months ago, after my father-in-law acquired a DW 15-2 (S/n 1961xx) and needed some info. I'd always wanted a DW, but never got around to it.
This forum really got me going, and about two weeks ago, I got a decent Monson-produced 15-2 (S/n 923xx) that I'm guessing was made around 1977. Does this seem close?
It is nicely blued, 6"V barrel, with smooth walnut target grips. I've also got a 4"V barrel assembly on its way. I'll post pix next week when I get my camera back.
Today, my FIL and I took the DW's out and shot them side-by-side with some .38 Spl wadcutter reloads and leftover Cowboy Acton loads I've had for 10 years. Everything I've heard about DW accuracy seems to be true.
I just want to express my thanks to all the folks who share their knowledge as it sure helped me to find the right gun at the right price, before I ever even registered with this board.

Jeff- Welcome to the Forum, and congratulations on getting your DW. 1977 seems pretty solid, we have much more info about the 15-2's than anything else. Nice job on getting a (temporary) pass on the pictures, as well, but you're gonna have to post yours and your Father in Law's

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
