Looks like this is THE forum for info on DW since nearly every website i went to refers to this site.. Pretty cool.. The reason for my search that led here originally was to find a general idea of the value of my DW Model 44. I am very glad to have found this site, as I was able to figure out that it is a DW Model 44, with the VH6 and VH8 shrouded barrels. In addition i was able to further able to classify that the barrels are unvented. After all that I was also able to determine that when I bought it in California in 1989 that it was the 44 Pistol Pack. Unfortunately I no longer have the feeler gauge, or the case, and since I had bought it used, it was missing the documentation as well. So... Can anyone please help me? Im looking to trade it in, or maybe even sell it on GB (i found that cuz of you guys too..)

Welcome to the forum from another Florida member! Where are you located?
That's a nice looking 44. Value depends on where you are and the preferences of the buyer. I like the plum color of the bluing, but some do not. 44's are my favorite, so I wouldn't take less than $700 for it, assuming the left side looks as good as the right. I'd make you and offer if I didn't already have 3.
Are you sure you want to sell? It's a honey to shoot.

Im not spending any time at the range these days, and I really want a weapon designed more for home defense and the coming zombie apocalypse (lol)... where do you think would be best to sell her? GB? I know that a pawn shop wont give me 50% of the value for it.
Ill post some sunlit pics later today.. Thanks again for your help!

You are welcomed to offer for sale on DWF, in the For Sale or Trade Forum. There are no fees involved, any item offered should be at a specific price, rather than auction style.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Good Day, All. Although I have been a member for a while, I never have posted. I'll jump right in:
I own a model #714-2 w/ 2 1/2 inch bbl, and a model #15-2 with a 6 inch bbl.
I just won a High Standard Mk II with 4 in bbl.(On it's way.) It was mfg by D.W. It looks like a model #14 (no dash). My question. If any of you also have a H.S. I would like to know if there are significant internal differences between the guns marked as H.S. and the real D.W line?
Please keep in mind that I am an older beginner (just retired), and not particularly knowledgeable about gun internals. That's why I have a regular gunsmith. This information will be helpful to him when I have him inspect and clean it (H.S.) prior to my shooting it.
Thanx
Happiness is a warm Dan Wesson and those small groups.

Drummin,
I also have a H.S. MK2, I believe they are the same as what is considered a DW 14-1. Still have the porkchop shroud, but the internals are the same as a newer 14-2 or 15-2. Inside it looks the same as Shoot's excellent 'Average Joe' tuneup thread.
