Hello from North Carolina. Just joined the site a month or so ago and thought it was time to say hello. I have a Dan Wesson Model 15 (Porkchop) with a 2 ½” barrel. After checking the Forum database I determined that in was manufactured around 1971. I bought the gun in 1982 for $150.00 from a widow who was selling her late husband’s collection. It came with one of the flat wrenches and the feeler gauge. It originally had the skinny wood DW grip, but even with my medium sized hands the gun jumped around in my hand like a bucking bronco with full load .357 rounds! I replaced the grip with a Pachmayr grip which made the gun a joy to shoot with any ammo. Well with the 2 ½” barrel it still kicks pretty hard, but at least it does not feel like it is going to jump out of my hand anymore! Sad but true I cannot find the wood grip now. I have been looking for additional barrels for it off and on since I bought it. Looks like the Porkchop models are hard to come by. I would love to have a 4” and a 6” barrel for it so if anyone has one collecting dust… wink I was not diagnosed until recently, since finding this site, but apparently I have had DWAS for many years! I have always wanted a Pistol Pack and now after finding this site I find myself in need of a 1911 Dan Wesson!

I fear the disease is terminal! dwas

Welcome to the forum. Is that a 15 with the short hammer throw. They are very sweet. Wolff trigger return spring makes it even better. And an eight lb main spring.

I may have a 4" BA. Let me check and get back to you. I suspect there is a difference between the height of the front sight on a 15 and a 15-1. Being an adjustable rear sight it may work. Does anyone know for sure. Dave KS may. I think the cutoff for 15 and 15-1 is about serial number 20,000. The big screw rear sight changes on the 15-1 I believe also. EWK makes an adapter that enables you to use 15-2  Barrel assemblies.

I am not familiar with the “short hammer throw” model, what is it and how can I tell if I have one. I saw the EWK adapter when I was looking at their site for barrels. Has anyone tried the adapter? Also does anyone have any experience with the EWK barrels? They look kind of mean, but I do not really like the way they do not match up with the frame of the gun.

Everything that Eric at EWK makes is superb and works as advertised.  I have some of his barrel assemblies and they are great, every bit as good as a factory barrel.  I have one of those adapters somewhere but haven't tried it yet.  His muzzle breaks are also real fine as well.
