Just wanted to say hello, I'm a long time DW owner and I just found this site. I've been a DW fan since I got my first one back in about 1985. I haven't shot alot the last few years, been too busy with work. My youngest daughter (15) has expressed an interest in learing to shoot, may have something to do with the guy she likes that is into shooting. Anyway, I've been teaching her some basics and that was the catalyst that got me wondering about the age of my trusty old Dan and a few google searches later I landed here. Great site, TONS of info and knowledge, I'm glad I found it. I'm no expert but will contrubute when I can and will be asking many questions, some dumb perhaps.
I used to shoot quite a bit in my college days, and afterwards, thats when I acquired my first DW. I'm still a reasonable shot these days, but it will take quite a few rounds to get me back to my DCM expert marksman rank I held back in school in the 80s. My kids keep telling me I'm stuck in that decade and in some respects I am, many things made then were very good and still are, like my DW. Anyway, thanks for a great information resource.

Welcome, good to have another Pa member here. I would warn you that hanging around here will encourage , (DW acquisition syndrome) but I just read your other post about the .44 you picked up, so you are already afflicted

Got my first DW used from a friend who had opened a gunsmith shop back in the mid 80s. The origional owner traded it in for a Ruger as he said that DW was junk and he couldn't hit anything with it. My friend, being a smith, looked at the gun and realized the old owner didn't have the barrel gap set correctly and the barrel was loose in the shroud. He set the gap and tightened the barrel nut and shot a 1" group at 25 yds off hand. He knew I was looking for a good, inexpensive 357 and told me I should buy it. I doubt the gun had more than a brick or two of ammo run thru it when I bought it. It is the most accurate, fun shooting gun I've ever had. Just need a 4" barrel for it to complete the set.
BTW I think I paid about $175 for the gun frame, 6" barrel, 2.5" barrel, 8" barrel, barrel tool, two grips and a padded case. For years I thought I had a "cheap" gun. It wasn't until years later at the range that a guy came over and saw my pack and started telling me how accurate and desireable the DWs were and that should I ever want to sell it, to call him first. My friend did me a real favor steering me to the DW as my first hand gun.

Bah .. Dw's are cheap .. I'll give $200 cash for the setup.. and you will be to the good!
Kidding.. of course. yeah he did you right.
My daughter learned to shoot on my 15-2 at about 15yo as well. My who is now 13yo, has been shooting since he was 9. I have since sent the entire family to take a self defense course ... and I supplied each with their own DW 15-2 ( which is why I have 4). Let her shoot and learn from it, it REALLY adds to their confidence, even if they don't consider concealed carry. ( I offered to let my daughter take her to college. Just knowing they they "know how" and that they know what to be afraid and what not to be afraid of is a big deal.
