I am a new member and am posting about myself as per instruction. I have never posted to anything before and do not know if I am doing it right. My introduction to Dan Wesson firearms began 20 years ago when my hunting buddy brought along all his guns on a hunting trip. I knew he had a .357 as his all around protection gun but what he brought was a 740 .357 Maximum that he just bought. It was complete in box with the 2 barrels and 1 shroud. It was a real cannon! The sound percussion alone felt like a .44 mag. Then he brought out his 7445 Supermag (complete in box with 2 barrels and 1 shroud). I had fired a .445 in a contender that he had and had no desire to shoot this one. I don't think that he paid more than $300.00 for the 445 and $350.00 for the .357 max (It had a burris scope on it).
What impressed me most was his .357 mag. It was a 14-1. I loved the idea of removing the barrel and having different sizes to fit the occasion. The different grips just blew me away! That gun was stolen and he replaced it with a 15-2. I thought his setup of Dan's was really neat. However, I remained a diehard S&W fan and didn't own a DW until a few years ago. I got a good deal on an early 15-2 with six inch barrel at a pawn shop. I never shot it. Had to sell it a few weeks later along with all my guns due to layoff. Just a few weeks ago, I got my second DW, also an early 15-2, and I love it. It has a 4 inch standard barrel and shoots like a dream! I have bought a smaller factory grip in new condition and hope to have a standard 2.5 inch barrel soon. I have learned much as a guest on this forum and hope to visit often in the future as a member.

Welcome Steve! You did great for a first time post. I remember spending many late nights just reading old forum posts after I first found this forum. So much to learn
One of the best things about DW revolvers is the infinite possibilities of customizing them to fit your preference. It's also a plus that they are easy to work on and are practically indestructible. Of course, shooting them is really the best part.
Everyone here is a bit crazy about Dans and we love to help other DW lovers, especially new ones, so don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have. You will receive plenty of answers, all based on our individual experiences.
Oh yes, and we love pics so show us your Dan!

I will have to post pics of my gun late next week. That is when my 2.5 inch standard barrel and smaller grips arrive and I wish to show them all together. My smaller grips are NOS factory High Standard Sentinel MK II/III. I bought them a couple of days ago on Gunbroker. He has more if anyone is interested. They are walnut and cost me $39.99 + $4.00 shipping. They are in the High Standard stuff with no pic and sentinel is spelled CENNTENIAL all in caps. I believe that I am on the verge of becoming a DW junkie! I look forward to having my little "Personal Pac" (that is what I am calling it) put together and posting the pics on Friday or Saturday next week. After that, I will be on a hunt for a model 14-2!

A belated welcome from the Carolinas. I've had to sell a few toys during a money crunch, not fun.
