Hi I just happened upon this sight while trying to figure out what I just bought.  Seems like a lot of great info here.  Looks like I've found anouther gun related way to waste time.

Anyways, I was out looking for a .22 pistol, probably a Ruger MKIII or Browning Buckmark, when I happened upon a Dan Wesson .22 revolver, blued, six inch barrel, in what appears to be decent condition.  It's stamped Monson, Mass.  It has big old wood grips and is as heavy as a boat anchor.  Now I'm a big fan of CZs, a big fan of .22s, like revolvers and once had my bacon saved by a Dan Wesson .44--so I snatched it up.  I'm still trying to figure out what exactly I have, but I am pretty excited about it.

I plan to do some plinking, some target shooting and a whole lot of small game hunting.

Thanks from a Dan Wesson newb.

Wisdom is merely the realization of how little one knows, therefore I am wise.

Welcome Nick.  Glad to hear that you are excited.  You will be even more so after you've shot it.

Be sure to post some pics.

Congrats on a DW 22, they are much less common that the .357's, and are somewhat more costly as a result. I especially like having a 22 and 357 in Dan Wesson, they are exactly the same revolver in size, weight, etc., so I can shoot a lot in 22, and a lot of that practice carries over very directly to shooting the Big Boys.

Welcome to DWF-get ready to get educated.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I will post some pictures once I get the gun out of Kalifornia's mandatory ten day purgatory.

Ah, the Dan Wesson .44 saving my bacon:

I was somewhere I probably shouldn't have been in the first place.  A couple of gang members decided they should rob me to teach me a lesson about being in their 'hood.  Well, I was young and dumb and figured I'd rather fight than hand over my wallet and car keys.  Amidst the scuffle one of the gangsters pulled out a teeny tiny pistol.  A real Saturday Night Special, probably a .25 or .32.  He's yellling "give it smooth I got the gun. I GOT THE GUN. I GOT THE GUN!" and jumping all around waving this thing.

I'm thinking "oh crap, I'm going to get shot,"  when my buddy shows up out of nowhere, holdning his brand new Dan Wesson Model .44 stainless with an 8 inch barrel.  He stuck that thing in the gangsters ear and said "No, I've got the gun...you have a toy, drop it now."

Alls well that ends well.  I've kind of had a soft spot for Dan Wessons ever since, but this is my first one.

I've already made up my mind to keep an eye out for a DW .357 since as Steve CT pointed out they are essentially the same gun in different calibers.   Guess I've got a touch of the Wesson bug.

Yeah, that happens a lot ... when I find myself with some cash I intend to hunt down a model 15 in more of a target configuration to complement my model 14 CCW piece.

They even have a smiley for this phenomenon  DWAS
