New member in SC. I have a 744 VH6. The shroud but not the barrel has two ports near the front sight. I haven’t shot it in years as I now prefer single actions and my lighter DA smiths. Despite regretting almost every time I’ve parted with a firearm, I’m thinking of selling or trading this one. There is a chip in the grip where it meets the trigger guard and a tiny nick in the underside of the shroud. Otherwise very good +. Looking for advice on value. Apologies if this should be in another part of the forum. Thanks

Welcome to DWF, your 744 looks great. There are very likely small holes in the muzzle end of the barrel "tube" that were intended to vent through those ports near the front sights. This was (in my opinion) not a great idea by DW to offer "ported barrels".
Still a pretty desirable .44 Magnum. I am not an authority on "value", other folks here might give you better info on prevailing Market prices for this model.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
