Hi,
I've owned my DW for many years, a very nice target model (357, blued, DW signed wood grip, 2" fixed barrel, target rear sights, front blade w/ red insert) and I finally decided to take a few and identify it specifically - I'll post a pic or two shortly, maybe you guy's can help me lock it down. It's a Palmer manufacture gun, will post the serial # when I get the pics done
I originally thought it may be a 15, but the barrel muzzle is not notched for the socket to remove the shroud, so looks like a fixed barrel to me (I've never attempted to remove anything, just use and clean/lube as needed). I think you'd all consider it a 'small' frame revolver - although in S&W speak it would be at least a K...
I really enjoy this DW - when I go to the range it's the one I prefer to holster (all the auto-loaders look the same, this one really is the looker! LOL)
Thanks,
-kjo

nice pics!
this may help: https://www.danwessonforum.com/wp-content/files/DanWessonSerialNumbers.pdf
My guess is a model 15-2FB circa 1995. Others here know way more than me.

KurtB, Thanks for the information - looks correct! I was curious why the serial number was so low, maybe they restarted the count after a certain event (the move to the Palmer location? or the model change?) Interesting.
I really like the way this model manages the 357 rounds when compared to some other pistols, the weight is just right - w/ 38 special it can feel 'under loaded' (all about the loads, I know)... I'm going to keep looking for a 6" or 8" target barrel, and the barrel tool.
It also looks like the model 14 & 15 barrels will both fit a model 15, sound right? Thanks again -kjo
Well, you are right that it is a fixed barrel. But it is a 3" Barrel that was used mostly for the fixed barrel guns. They are not removable with the standard barrel tool. The factory can remove it but there is no guarantee they will be undamaged. The shroud and barrel are the same but the barrel is torqued into the frame at 120 lbs and the barrel nut has no slots. I have an identical BA in stainless that has the regular nut. I would enjoy it for what it is, a scarce 15-2 fixed barrel model. Still has the tensioned barrel and front lock up accuracy.

Welcome to the Forum.
That is a nice DW. Not a lot of them out there. It would be a shame to change it.
If you really want to be able to change barrels, I recommend you either sell it and buy what you really want, or keep it and buy another one.
Just my opinion. I think the 3" fixed barrel has a lot going for it. But it's your gun and you should do what you want to do.
Thanks for the pics.

Hi Ole Dog, Useful info - I was wondering about that, glad to get the facts straight. I'll enjoy it 'As Is' - it's a great shooter and there's no need to mess w/ that.
I'll keep an eye open for another to keep it company (something I'm known for LOL), I shoulda grabbed a pistol-pac a few years back when they were so cheap - not anymore!
Thanks. -kjo

I decided to add a Pachmayer grip - the wooden one is nice, but a little big for my hand - the Pachmayer is just a bit smaller, and it looks pretty good too!
That" add another one " is how it starts. Nice to have 2 of a nice gun but with Dan Wesson revolvers it is not just 2. It is called Dan Wesson Acquisition Syndrome, a, compulsion to buy and KEEP buying Dan Wessons until you run out of money. Usually will not destroy marriages or careers though. Not as bad as a sex or gambling addiction. Lack of funds will put it in remission but not cure it. But it is a lot of fun. And IT IS NOT SPENDING MONEY. IT IS INVESTING. Wives may not understand that. Good luck..
