Hi Folks, nice forum.
Came looking for info, so I'll add my 2 cents to the serial number information. I purchased a NEW in the box, (still have the box) Dan Wesson 15 6" Target pistol in January of 1977, at the PX in 29 Palms CA. The serial number is 13718X, I didn't have to wait for it to come in, it was an off the self purchase. So it was most likely produced in 1976 (or earlier). Wish I would have had the money to get a Pistol Kit back then. The way it was it cost me close to 2 months pay ! ... and worth every nickle.
This revolver has been carried almost every deer season since. It has taken 3 deer over the years, longest was at 25 yds. Those were the ones that strolled in and allowed me to dig the weapon out of it's shoulder holster, tucked in under a heavy jacket, and still provided a good shot. The others have succumbed to a .300 Savage.
I guess like everyone else here, I'm not giving up the DW, I'm looking to add Barrels and Shrouds. The are rock solid pieces.

Welcome to the forum, glad to have you here. And thanks for adding your info to the serial number registry.
Thank you for your service to our country.
Best of luck in your barrel search. Ebay and Gunbroker are good places to look, but pricey.
Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

Welcome from AZ. Bought my first one around the late 70 with a 6" barrel but replaced it with an 8" later. I found a pistol one year at a gun show in Phoenix bought it but found another one the same day with the 10, 12,15" barrels could not really afford it but didn't dare pass it up. fast forward I found a 44mag pistol pack someone had so I added it to my collection including 13 2nd amendment, Centennial, Constitution 200 years, deer hunter and bear hunter 44mag
