Hi Group! I currently own an early 80s model DW 41 MAG with an 8" heavy barrel in Stainless steel. My dad bought this gun new and used it for IHMSA for several years. I remember it being a great shooting gun and have taken it to the range and shot 2" 50 yard groups no problem. 
The Serial number is SC001297 if that helps to date or ID it. The is an SS stamped into the frame behind the cylinder arm. Not sure why the top pic is sideways.

Best estimate for a "Born On" date is 1984. SCOO196x is the earliest 741 in the Serial Number Registry with, and there are several 1984 guns following very closely with similar S/N's
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
