I live in Florida and work for Brevard Robotics making barrels for Kel Tec firearms and I just traded and got a 357 with 6inch barrel,it has target sights and was made in Monson Mass. And would like to know exact model, value, and approximately what year it was made(SN 87249)and also curious about the different colors that are on my gun that I have never seen before

Welcome Sir, Looks like you have a model 15-2 with the heavy vented 6" barrel. The value of any Dan Wesson is not relevant as being a Dan Wesson makes it priceless. The plum color of the revolvers frame is somewhat typical of many older Dans. Different metal composition on the frame and barrel shroud causes the bluing to oxidize differently. Your Dan is an older one based on the ser# and the grips. You can get an idea of when your DW was made by going to the serial number reference section of this forum.
Sorry to tell you that you have now succumbed to the dastardly Dan Wesson Acquisition Syndrome as you will surely start collecting Dan Wesson barrels & grips and more Dan Wessons. Here is a photo of one of my early model 15-2's.

Glad to have you on the DWF! In that condition I'd say value of a 15-2 is about $400. The plumb coloring is affectionately known as 'Barney'. Here's some reading for you.

Thank you both for the responces and understanding the "Barney" of the frame...I already have a 4 and 2 inch barrel on the way from a friend's who has had them for 20+ years and no longer has a DW,the best part is they are free, and I tried to get into the serial number section and says I have to be a member but I already am so I'm a little confused on that part

You will love your Dan.
Nice to know someone who helps produce Kel-tecs. I have a few and like them all, though not as many as I have DW's and I admit that I do like DW's more, but on the other hand there are still a couple Kel-tecs that I want to get one day. Oh heck, I just want everything.

circa 75-76. The SN section is for site supporters (through the Shop page). There's quite a bit more information on DWs in there. The DWF runs completely on donations- that's how we keep advertisement and annoying pop-ups off the site.

Kel Tec is an amazing company to work for and we make some really cool guns,I went shooting yesterday with a few Kel Tec weapons (KSG,RFB,PLR16,SU16 and 2 SUB2000 9mm's) along with other guns and they are really fun shooters,I can't wait to take out the DW357 and see how it fires..I traded a Ruger LCP380 w/lasermax for the 357and I believe I came out on top

Welcome to DWF, I think KelTec is a pretty good company as well. Over the course of quite a few years I have owned several KT's-2 P3AT's and a PF9. The PF9 was a wrong gun for me, 9mm was more than I wanted in that small of a gun. I gave my son one of the P3AT's and traded the other off for reasons still not clear to me.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Welcome from another Floridian. I have 2 Sub 2000s in 9mm. Snake - eye turned me on to them. I keep one in the panel on the door of my Ram truck. Fits perfectly. For when you need a little extra. You are very lucky to get free BAs. The two of them are worth more than the gun. Your checkered diamond grip is one of my favorites. You need 4 or 5 to outfit your Dan properly.
