I have had a 15-2 for a few years now. It is a pleasure to shoot and looks like new. Would you believe a buddy sold it to buy a Glock? Today I just picked up a High Standard Mark III with a 3" barrel. It looks like it has been in a toolbox in someone's garage for too long. When I first looked at it I knew it had to be made by DW. I'm going to soak it for a few days before taking it apart. The guy had about a half roll of electrical tape on the grip. That was actually a good thing. The grip is in much better shape than the gun. The only difference I see is the rear sight is different than the one on my 15-2. Looking forward to learning more from the members here.
I finally figured out how to add photos of the High Standard.

First, welcome to the DWF!
The HS MK lll was indeed made by DW. It is the same gun as the DW 15-1 which was the very last pork chop, and was likely made in 1974. These are great shooters as you hopefully will soon find out. I have a DW 15-1, and it is my most accurate revolver. The 3 inch barrel assembly is odd though. We would love to see a photo!
Barrels were 21/4", 33/4" and 53/4". Measure from the forcing cone to the muzzle. The shroud is 3". The rear sight on a mk 111 is a High Standard made rear sight. They were used on the DW model 15-1 too. They changed with the introduction of the 15-2. 3ric is correct. In my opinion, porkchops are more accurate than 15-2s. Just a feeling. I had a very beat up HS mk11 I paid 225 for. My wife berated me for buying a piece of junk. Then she shot it and declared it her favorite gun EVER. Then she berated me for buying a very used Manurhin Gendarme fixed sight model. " you paid 600 for that beater? ". Then she proclaimed it the best gun ever and appropriated it. Haha, her guns are my guns too. It is her bedside gun.

Thanks for the info. I just dropped it off this morning to get it cleaned up. I'm not going to refinish it, just enjoy it for what it is. So it sounds like my DW is actually a 15-1? It is very accurate! When I was in my late teens, I lusted after my coworkers DW revolvers. That was in the late 70's, and everybody back then said they were the most accurate revolvers on the market.

Welcome to the forum from PA!
Dan Wesson also made some .357s for Mitchel Arms, The Titan II and Titan III in the early 1990's. They came in stainless and blue and were fixed barrel guns. They have a round barrel profile and a unique grip style. The blued versions have a fantastic finish.
Dan Wesson also built a 1911 for Mitchel during the Bob Serva ownership years. The Gold Series, basically a PM7. Not too common. Mine has the spent cartridge case in an envelope signed by Keith Lawton, now the President at Dan Wesson. Back then he was the head man in the factory. That's how we determined the guns to be DW made.
Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

If a man designed it, and a man built it, then a man can fix it.

I took the H&R out to show a buddy, and now it has a problem. When pulling the trigger in DA the cylinder rotates fine. When pulling the hammer back for SA, the cylinder will only rotate intermittently. Any ideas?
Could the grip screw be too tight? I’m sure one of the expert will come to the rescue on this one. My first check would be the grip screw.
