Hi
I just got my DW today. I have a few semi-autos, but wanted a revolver for times when maybe there wont be mag springs available.
Gun show today.
We saw this DW 15 at a table that had old guns. My son was with me (former military and a soon-to-be gunsmith.) He said to definitely get this. I had heard of DW before but didn't know too much. We quickly searched on our phones and saw the $3200 kit with 7 barrels on gunbroker, frames alone for $300, etc. So, figured it wasnt too bad a deal for having it right here. Its bluing isnt too bad, and it came with 2 & 4 " barrels, nut and tool. It had the Pachmayr grips on it which we liked. Sorry for the pics- bad lighting. Just wiped it down with Wally's gun cloth. Got it for $475 cash out the door. Can't wait for the range!

Great buy and welcome to DWF. Looks like a five digit S/N, along with that old school barrel tool it looks to be a 1977-78 gun.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Hi & thanks for the welcomes.
If I might ask here, rather than spread through multiple forums.
1- is there a manual anywhere or instructions on barrel change, gapping, maintaining, etc?
2- I want to use the gun at the range, have somewhere for protection as necessary (not collecting for putting in a safe and rarely seeing.)
I have the 2" barrel, which I gather is for those who would want to conceal.
I guess the 4 or 6" is for holster carry?
The 8 and up for range, etc?
I dont want to go into collector mode and just start buying barrels for the sake of getting them all- I know I easily could get hooked
For a gun to have in a quick access in a small vault with a digital combo and use fror target at the range- what sizes are good? Am I fine with the 4? or should I pick up the 6 or 8?
Like I said, this is my first revolver.
Thanks

Welcome to the DWF.
You can regularly find manuals for Dan's on GB. The barrel change system is quite simple.
1. Undo the barrel nut.
2. Remove the shroud by sliding it off of the barrel.
3. Unscrew the barrel.
4. Screw in the new barrel and use the feeler gauge to set the gap between the barrel and the cylinder face.
5. Rotate the cylinder 6 positions making sure that the feeler gauge still slips between the cylinder and the barrel. Any time you have to make an adjustment, restart your count.
6. Slide the appropriate shroud over the new barrel (the gauge should remain between the barrel and the cylinder).
7. Gently spin the barrel nut onto the end of the barrel until it contacts the stop in the shroud.
8. Tighten gently, slowly but firmly to avoid changing the barrel/cylinder gap, to good and snug.
9. Shoot the darn thing.
Most early Dan's came with a .006 gap gauge. The Supermags all came with .002 gauges. I gap all of my Dan's to .002 and have never had an issue.
Dan's are very accurate. The 4-inch barrel should be plenty accurate for the distances you will encounter indoors.
Enjoy.
