I inherited a DW pistol from my father-in-law when he passed.  I removed the one-piece DW grips looking for a model number but all I found was a pressed in number 6 or 9 on the grip post.  The pistol has Dan Wesson Arms, Monson, Mass and SN 3053XX on the right side of the frame.  Looking to find model number and year of mfg as I need to find a replacement 4" blued barrel.

What caliber is stamped in the right side of the barrel shroud?

Most DW's don't have the model number stamped on the frame. More than likely, it's a Model 15-2 .357 magnum. Pictures would help us give more information.

Welcome to the dwf forum.

There is a serial number forum in here to help you learn the year of manufacture and what model it is. But if you post some pictures, someone will tell you what model you have and the shroud type.

Welcome from PA!

If a 357 mag, it's a 15-2 made mid to late 1980s.

Could it not also be a Model 11, 12, 14, or 15?  Or does his serial number range rule those out?

Regards,

Jim

The serial number indicates a later gun than the 11 or 12.

Of its adjustable sights, that rules out a 14, as those were fixed sights.

Post a pic and we can tell for sure.
