Anyway, who is the resident high standard by Dan Wesson expert?
That would be John Stimson (post #19), he schooled all of us when he came in years ago help answer our questions & set myths straight about the MKII & MKIII High Standards.
Good to see you here again, John!

Nice collection of High Standards, Steve S! It looks like the 6in MK lll is showing the gouge mark I was talking about, but not as bad as my DW 15-1. I think mine has a very high round count. However, since I’ve added the shim, the cylinder bolt cuts no longer drag there as long as I’m halfway careful when closing it. I used a dab of oxpho-blue to help conceal the marks (the photo above was before the shim).

Thanks guys. I've learned a ton about High Standards in the last couple weeks. haha I still don't know much, but I know more than I did. According to the shipment info, Mine supposedly came asa 4" barrel. It has a 6" on it now. I really like the 4" barrel length, and would like to have that option. I think I MIGHT have located a correct 4" shroud, but its not in that good of shape. I'd get it if I could find a barrel. What all 4" barrels would fit the MK II? I'm assuming a DW14? What about a DW 15? Would that fit too?
First of all, the barrel is 1/4 shorter than the models 11 and 12 and the dash 2s. It is not 21/2", 4", and 6". If you mean barrel assemblies, a model 14-1(unofficial) and the model 14 have different height front sights. The Mk11 and Mk 111 have different front sights. You can use a Dan Wesson Model 14-1 shroud on a Mk11. They are identical except for the roll mark
Any of the porkchop BAs and shrouds will mount on the frame but unless it is the right front sight height it will not shoot to point of aim. A model 14 or 15 BA on a 14-1or 15-1 BA will shoot low. You can file the front sight down if so desired. A model 14-1 or 15-1 BA on a model 14 or 15 will shoot high. You would need to somehow replace the front sight. Remember, the HS MK 11 and 111 are the same as Dash 1s.
