I always take the grip off when cleaning my guns so I can clean the whole frame to prevent corrosion. Especially rubber grips which trap moisture and wick away oil. There is often some damage under rubber grips that have been on a long time. In homes without air conditioning I would not keep rubber grips on when not using the gun. Just my personal opinion. The grips do need to be removed to have the pleasure of removing the sideplate and doing a thorough cleaning. Do not be concerned about the gaps around the grip and frame . There are dozens of styles and many manufacturers of Dan Wesson grips. Regardless of shape they are all securely held on by the tang and grip screw. As Steve notes, make sure the grip is fully on the tang. Do not over tighten the grip screw or it can affect the action or cause light strikes.

Check your inbox..You're awesome ese927! Thank you very much! Sorry it takes me so long to see this stuff. It's my 2 year anniversary today so I've been out with my wife all day. My phone only works when I h wifi. Plus I don't know how to make it notify me.
You should be able to set an email notification for PM's in your Profile.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

It does email me when I get a pm but I don't check my email very often either. I'm not exactly a big fan of technology so I'm not on my phone very often.

Oorah!!Well, Michael it is a little tougher from your phone cause they would need to be resized, most likely, to fit. We weren't really trying to bite ya about the junk...we all know what you mean. You will need a barrel wrench but you can a flat feeler gauge from the auto parts house... Let me rummage thru my "junk". if I find something anygood for you to use I willM

Michael sounds like me before Dan Wessons. Not very tech proficient. Before long he will be on Gunbroker , ebay, emailing, surfing the Web and suffering from DWAS. BTW, Wife showed me how to PM and attach pictures to emails. Pretty soon I will learn how to post pictures to the forum. You guys will be in for a treat.

Wow, Ron. When you learn how to post pics to the forum, we're all going to go blind from visual overload.
