Thank you for allowing me to be a member of this site. I found it by accident while being curious about what my Dan Wesson is worth. It is a .44 possibly a super mag but I don't know how to tell. It has a rather low serial number S 01265 I believe. I'll double check it. Unfortunately I don't have easy access to it right now. I recently moved and I haven't yet brought all my hardware. I know for a fact that it is only four digit after 0. I bought it new in 92. 10" barrel and adjustable rear sight making it a target model I do believe. I have the original box, grip, tool and shim. I may have the receipt too.
We let just about anyone be a member as long as they like Dans. Everyone here is about as nice and helpful as can be. If it was a supermag it would have it on the shroud and the roll mark on the shroud would say . 445. Very pretty gun. 10" VH shroud is highly sought. I would venture it would go for 900 to 1100 on Gunbroker. Maybe more with box, tool, instruction book and a nice factory grip. A gun shop would give you a lot less. Thank heavens for gunbroker. Be careful spending too much time on the forum or you could develop Dan Wesson Aquisition Syndrome. DWAS for short.

aboard!
From your photo, it appears you have a model 744 (a stainless .44 Magnum). And probably a Palmer gun. The label on your original styrofoam box will verify the model. The Supermag would have a longer cylinder & frame. For current prices, do as Ole Dog suggested & check out some of the final sale prices on Gunbroker & similar sites.

Welcome Darby. That's a nice Dan and I'm jealous that you are the original owner. The 44s are great shooters. Prices are starting to go crazy for DW revolvers, especially the large frames. You will regret selling it if you do.
We need to get your date of purchase and serial number for our registry cause the factory records are gone. Please consider adding your info to our collection. It helps those of us who want to know approximate date of manufacture of our revolvers.
Enjoy!

Thank you everyone for the welcome I do have the original box, original grip, tool and shim. I'll post a photo of the original receipt and close up of the serial number. Eventually I'll post all the original box, grip etc as one pic just to show the condition. Not for sale by the way.

I'll scan my receipt and post it, but, for anyone that wants to use my info, my purchase was Feb 26 1992. $485.48
