Greetings all. Thanks for all the great info on D.W.'s that I have picked up since discovering this forum. I am having a blast getting into revolvers lately after starting out on the "wonder 9's" then moving onto 1911's and finally wheel guns. I have a 6" S&W 586 and a 2020 Python ( low serial # but had none of the problems others reported, thankfully) I love them both and was actually going to purchase a new 715 before being seduced by the Python last year. Anyways things came full circle last week when I purchased my first Dan Wesson, a 6" 744VH Monson made between '82-'84. Haven't made it to the range yet but am dying to do so. The trigger and action are fantastic! Unfortunately it didn't come with any box, papers, extra barrels/shrouds, or even the wrench. Oh well. Which barrel wrench would you guys recommend, the one on CZ website or the EWK?

Welcome, from beautiful and warm Florida. My favorite wrench is the 3rd style. All steel with a cross bar with 2 Allen heads and the small Allen wrench in the insert. I also have a Allen wrench set with all the needed sizes that folds into the handle and is from a hardware store. Very cheap and works on Hogue screws and other sizes. Auto parts stores have sets of feeler guages that work far better than the crappy shim that comes with the guns. .006 is not always the optimal cylinder gap. Once you learn what gap works best I just hold the gun to the light and eyeball it. Always take the tool and shims with you to the range.
Beware of being infected with Dan Wesson Acquisition Syndrome. DWAS. It seems to be incurable but can go into remission because of low funds.
