Hello - New member saying "Hello". dwf

New to Forum, new to Dan Wesson, sort of.

Lusted for a .357 / 8" barrel back in 1985 or so, lost it to a higher bidder...and the years passed on by.

Then just recently the Stars aligned again and  this time I did not let it go.

So, recently I got this .44 Mag -

GREAT Shooter..!!!  big-grin

Great Forum, BTW..

Regards,

BA.

Welcome to the forum! You'll love shooting your 44. The 6VH is my favorite combination for the 44. Even my wife loves shooting it.

Nice 744- now you need a 4" HV BA too- my personal favorite...

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Thank You all for the kind words.

Well , as expected the DW bug bit hard and my next step was fitting a 4X Leupold scope I just happened to have loitering around  -

Here's a preliminary fitting, just to see how it feels...

At this time, I'm not too happy with this Picatinny scope mount. This will be upgraded soon.

Also, I'm thinking of going with an OEM longer barrel in the near future, maybe an 8" or 10", ported ; like my existing 6".

And a Cross Draw Holster, while we're at it...

This stuff Is Addictive; ain't it..?

wink

BA, The ported barrels was not Dan Wesson's best idea. The shrouds get leaded up and require herculean cleaning efforts after each box of cartridges . If you use it be dure to use jacketed bullets. Most of us use an unported barrel. If you need one EWK and the factory sell them. The 10" is not ported I think. EWK sells inexpensive compensators and Dan Wesson sells very expensive compensated barrel assemblies that do work

Even though the shroud shows the ports, it's possible your barrel is not ported. If it does not have six (?) small holes drilled around the barrel about 1" back from the muzzle, it is not a ported barrel. If it is ported, please heed the advice to thoroughly clean the barrel assembly frequently.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
