My father gave me a DW Monson .357 that belonged to my grandfather. I took it to the range and fired 2 rounds through it and it threw powder in my face, so I discontinued using it. I didn't know anything about these and after doing a little research I learned about the interchangeable barrels and the popularity of these firearms. I must say I am very intriqued. Upon further inspection of mine I noticed the barrel gap was way too wide and I ordered a barrel wrench from Eric at EWK. I have adjusted the gap and ready to try it again. I also am very interested in setting up this gun for deer hunting and came across this barrel assembly, but can't figure out any thing about it as it looks different than the 4" on my gun. The engraving is different and it has DW engraved on one side. Can anyone shed any light on this assembly? Will it work on my gun?

Eric

Hello Eric, welcome aboard. That's a nice looking Dan. It's especially nice to have the family connection. Now that you have the gap situation under control , I bet you are going to love it.
It looks to me like the scope rig should work, but some more knowledgeable guys will be along shortly and answer your questions.

Eric,
Welcome to the forum. Good move getting the EWK wrench and resetting the gap, could do a lot for it. Looks to me like the 8" scoped setup will be great on your gun, the newer style laser engraving just means it came from the newer Norwich plant.
Your Dan is a model 15-2, the 4" barrel is 4V the v indicating the vents on the top strap. The 8" vented heavy underlug assembly you have would be 8VH.
You have a very nice looking Dan Wesson, and that 8" BA you picked up would make a great hunting rig.

I appreciate all the responses and insight! I'm very happy to hear the 8" assembly will work, as I just purchased it off ebay and haven't received yet. It was posted as a buy it now and as fast as they go I went ahead and bought it before I knew for sure it would work. I can't wait to try it! Any other suggestions before I start putting it to the test?

You may want to use this link to clean up and smooth the action

I would at least pull the sideplate and do a quick swab and lube
You already have your scope mount, but there may be some useful info here

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
