Hey there,
Just joined, looks like a great group here. Not sure what to say, I live in Ohio, my work is operator for a road construction co. I have a family, one of each. I enjoy the winters off but no time for myself in the on season. I was raised on hunting and shooting sport's and I try to share this with my kids ( when I can get them out of bed ) .

Looks like you have an early 15-2, with a pinned front sight...I assume it's a 5-digit serial number? Is the number near the range of 64xxx?

Any do's/dont's or pro's/con's with early models ? I would like to get a different set of grips, also I read somewhere here one of the members makes/sells the barrel tool, I need one of those as well. I would like to play with gap for accuracy test. Thanks for any info.

Hey Scott:
Grips are available from a variety of sources. DW sells them in both walnut and "exotic wood" which usually means zebrawood, which is gorgeous. Hogue sells them in both rubber and other woods like Goncalo Alves and Pau Ferro.
You can buy them on-line at both eBay and Gunbroker in a variety of styles and materials.
EWK sells a lovely barrel wrench. He is currently taking orders for a run in stainless. PM him for details.
I use .002 as a headspace gap on all of my DW's. You have to be careful with the Monson guns though. The fronts of their cylinders are not usually flat so set your gap on the tightest position. Otherwise, as the gun heats up you may experience binding causing the cylinder to not rotate.

I checked my gap and it is .0025 I see how the cylinders are not flat . I had to adjust my rear sight completly to right just to get center hits. If I turn barrel it should change my point of impact right ? On the grips, I saw the ones on ebay and DW site, I would like to get a set of old school style walnut, checkered, redish/brown and DW emblem.

SHOOT beat me to it on the grips.
I don't think turning the barrel is the answer. Turning the barrel will change your headspace distance. I'm not sure that's a help. My wife had this problem and an NRA instructor made her change her grip and that solved it. That may well not be your problem, but it's a thought that came to mind, especially considering the grips you have on the gun right now.

Blacktop, We show goats in OHIO every year, usually in Zanesville and the Guernsey County Fair grounds. You have to be near there.

One of the guy's at work that raises/sells miniature horses, he also sell's alot of goat's up north in Holmes county right before Easter. He lives right up the road from Guernsey Fair grounds on Putney Ridge.
