Thank you Tim.
From what I can find, I'm pretty sure it's a Model 15. I'll pick it up on July 1st and post some pics shortly after.
It's in really nice shape; no flame cutting on the frame, light turn ring, nice target type grips with the DW medallion and the blue looks pretty darn good. BTW, it's a 4" ribbed barrel.
The plan is to use it around the property here. We're on about four acres, but we're in the woods. We've got deer, elk and black bear here. I'm hoping some 205gr. Corbon Hunter hardcast lead loads would be adequate bear medicine.

The revolver looks just like this. I grabbed the pic off the interwebz. So I'm guessing it's a Model 15?
I just ordered some Doubletap 200gr. hardcast loads for critter control. I realize that a steady diet of them wouldn't be smart, but I want them for cougar and bear around here. I'll run a cylinder of them just to get the feel. Otherwise it will just be 158gr. ball ammo.

That is a picture of a Model 22 (.22 lr) however, if yours looks like that, you have a 15-2 4" with the standard shroud.
I don't know much about Double Tap ammo, but the 15-2 is a pretty robust gun, rated for Buffalo Bore heavy loads. Not smart for a steady diet, I agree, but it's a tough gun as long as it's in good condition and function
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I've never fired Doubletap ammo and don't know much about it, so I wasn't aware of QC issues. I prefer Corbon Hunter 205gr. HC loads but I can't find any at this point, so I bought the Doubletap. I guess I'll pick up some Buffalo Bore 185gr. hardcast ammo and go with that instead. The Doubletap can be trade fodder.

Did Doubletap make it good?
Short version, I had two Kabooms with Double Tap, first was minor that blew out the magazine
and DT replaced that ammo, second KB was not so pretty. DT said it must be your gun, ( never
mind I had shot over a thousand rounds of various brands prior to DT ammo but at that
moment I was at a lose for answers) So I called Colt and with in minutes I had a shipping
label in my email ready to be printed.
Colt replaced most of the gun, not to mention some fine fitting and a trigger job...Oh and
threw in two extra new mags. They said they would settle up with Double Tap on the damage.
Don't know if that really happened or not, just know what I was told on the phone.
DT on the other hand back peddled on the whole thing after Colt tested some of the ammo
I sent them with the KB'd gun. Seems the brass was thin in the web, thinner than 40 caliber
brass is. I was being cool as heck with DT, told them I know things happen and nobody can
be 100% perfect all the time and what not. All I asked from them was a return shipping label
for 600 rounds of ammo and a refund when they got it. This took dozens of calls (due to no
one cared to return any messages) and six weeks to accomplish and through it all I never,
not once got a damn apology from them... not once.
Double Tap....Puuffff

I don't know if you have a Cabela's near you, they stock Buffalo Bore in my area.
For you and lonwolf, thanks for the DT heads up.
