A bit about myself.
Army vet of 1st Gulf War. Essayons.
I hang out mostly at Rimfirecentral.com . I don't like sites with a lot of bickering, cussing, or rude posts.
I worked in the trades most of my life, and now am involved in fire/flood remeadiation.
My favorite rifle is the single shot Sears Ranger my Grandfather bought new in 1937.
My second favorite rifle is a Hamilton Boy's Rifle.
I only own one centerfire rifle. A Winnie '94 .30WCF. A late model one tortured into accepting a scope. It's the only rifle I need in the thick underbrush of Louisiana. I use it to brush the bananna spiders aside, so I can shoot pigs with my DW. (I hate spiders)
My DW came to me from a fellow who passed of brain cancer. He wanted it to go to somebody who would shoot it. That was over 20 years, and countless rounds ago. I still shoot it, a lot. I broke it once, trying to embarass "once a year shooters" with their deer rifles. CZ-USA did a fine job of putting it back into service, and now I shoot 148 gr DEWC's over 3.5 gr of HP-38. A very gentle load. It's by far my favorite handgun.
OK. Before someone tells me it's mandatory. . .
DW 715 .357 mag. with Scout, the cat.
Some other of my firearms.
Well. . . Y'all get the idea.

I gotta ask does Scout gather the downed critters? Welcome nice looking toys you have there.
Your friend must have trusted you deeply to leave you with such a prize.
Thank you for your Service!
While Scout takes a great intrest in firearms, he prefers his meals from a can, on time.
He had quite a collection. He was an avid shooter.
Any sacrafice I made pales in comparison to so many others who gave so much more, but you are most welcome.

Welcome welcome!
Finally we add another DW fan from south of the Mason-Dixon line.... (ok just kidding)..
(I'm over here in MS myself). I am thinking about trying to shoot a hog with my trusty ole DW 15-2 myself. Most likely i will head towards that way to do it (well probably as far as Bogalusa) as we got kin around there. I would love hear tales of how you do it.
Soap Box, Ballot Box, Ammo Box
in that order.
4 Monson Model 15's
1 Palmer FB 15
1 Rossi 357 Model 92 (lever)
1 CZ 75B

I see that Scout has a Colt Target .22! One of those spent about a year in my life, nice little pistol, but I really like adjustable sights on .22 LR (actually, on everything!) so it became trade bait.
DWF is a very friendly, easygoing place. We have 3 Moderators, and the last time any of us had to actually DO anything was, well ......
HUH!
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I actually have not hunted in a few years, but my favorite place was Pearl River WMA, on the Mississippi State line. I would take my piroge to the back, and wait for daybreak. At daybreak it would sound like WWIII up front, and all the game would run my way. By the time the pigs, and deer made it as far as I was, they wanted a drink. So I would simply hunt on a bluff overlooking the river. Once, I shot a pig so close to my piroge, I was wondering how I might get home, if there was a through, and through.
Typical shot was about thirty yards. Factory ammo. 168 gr FN semi jacketed. IIRC
Now that I think about it, I smoked cigarettes back then, so it had to be five years ago, or more.
I always brought my Winnie along, but never used it. It harvested many deer when I was stationed up in Pennsylvania, but I don't think I've killed with it since '94.

One of my future projects is to modify a B-square mount to screw into where the rib is fastened. Then I'll mount a red dot on it.
I agree, the fixed sights on the 4" models are horrid. The 6" ones came with adjustable sights.
Mine needs a new spring kit too, as the last shot bolt hold open is failing.

From west of the basin (lft).
I was in NOLA the other day, a couple hours for work. Then brought my son to the WWII museum followed by watching the Lakers do in the Hornets.
Next time let me know you're coming. I need a good Tasso connection. NOLA's great, but somethings you just can't get here.

Scout gets around, he's a Cool Kat!
We have three cats, Steve. Scout is the only one who insists he must be in every picture. He's an attention hog.
I've got a cat like that...he's my little buddy & follows me everywhere. Getting pics without him laying on the subject can be challenging at times.
aboard, that's a great looking collection you've got there.
